Hahah, that's actually pretty cool looking. Wouldn't fit in my living room, but imagine that with black and white tiled floors :)

Good job Kchill! The black/white look is cool but not my taste. Besides, my grills are already ruined due to the dye attempt. Let the paint dry thoroughly before moving them around too much or the paint job can get scratched easily. Currently using mine with no grills like your 3rd pic. Did you go flat black?

    Very sharp looking indeed!

I would try strips of black electrical tape on the white trim above/below the grill cloth. This may add to the look or take away.... Not sure.

BTW, replacement grills are relatively cheap - I was quoted at $14 for RTi4.

Fxi3 replacement grills are $18. I am going to try fabric paint next and then spray paint the plastic ends dark gray.

I like and whats funny is the black and white are the same look i have in my house. I have the same speakers and now you are making my think of cool stuff i can do as well. I love it and thanx now im going to have to paint mine but the opposite. I have the white ones (thats all they had left) and i would love them to be black. Did you cover the holes so the paint would not get inside the box?

Follow the link at the top to the other thread. I have some ideas what I did. Kchill may fill in what he did.

I did go with flat black like you said to....only a 4 buck can...I did take everything out and stuffed newspaper up in these....I tell ya that the tweeters did not want to go back in ...took 3 hours to do them after drying. You need an allen wrench to take out the speaker. I broke a tweeter...at least I think I did untill I reconnected it and did the tube test to make sure I got sound:p.

Yes they scratch easy, very easy. Lucky these go up high on the wall so they look like the rest of the set up. Sounds the same and works the same.

20 bucks for grills, well if these get on my nerve I may just buy them but I like the look for now, very different, never seen anything like this and was taken back by the look when I was done.

ALso if anyone paints these use rustoleme (sp) flate black and a few coats. I hung mine as you can see with a hanger through the tweeter holes outside. Can must be 8-10 inches aways and use a spraying motion until cover. Let dry for an hour or more.

If you mess us don't fret, just get some paint thinner and remove and respray. Goes on smooth.

Update....the exact allen wrench to use is 9/64

They do scract easy as max will tell ya, so no sharp objects as you handle.

But when I got them they already had some scuffs and dirt marks on the white that I could not get out. So black was the next option. Heck you can paint them whatevery color you want...red, blue..ect.

IF you insist on doing this to your speakers, use Krylon spray paints. Nothing else, period.

They do have an element of cool to em' I admit. Just a thought but maybe Polk could somehow offer grill cover color options with their speakers.

Your right, I would like white grill covers now for all my speakers. Or at least have the option.
