Well I am finally getting my PS3 hooked up. It's mainly for movies but I thought I might try to play a game or two on it as well.

I like first person shooters but I don't like them very difficult. I also like arcade games like Defender, Arkanoid, Tetris etc,

Any of these out there that you guys like?

    Ratchet and Clank.

I never play video games, but those games for the PS2 sucked me in. So fun. Classic arcade / action style game. I've heard the PS3 version is the best one yet.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Call of Duty 4 is by far the best first person shooter, and it has an easy difficulty setting. The Playstation Network is full of arcade games, and there are a few demos you can get to try them out before you buy them. Everyday Shooter is my favorite.

And if you like racing games get Gran Turismo 5: Prologue.

Thanks. Don't like racing games at all. I am pretty boring when it comes to this stuff. I could just have 1 or 2 games that I really like and be happy and play them forever.

Have you played Guitar Hero, or just seen it? I didn't like it until I played it, and then I was hooked.

That being said, COD4 is excellent. Great multiplayer online. Very good single player for the casual gamer.

Just make sure you do it with the guitar. The game is pointless with just the controller.

I don't own a PS3, but I concur with COD4 amazing FPS, completly blew me away on my 360. Another one which I have tried and really enjoyed was Resistance.

There was a game for my 3DO system, that if implemented for the PS3 with todays technology...I would buy in a heartbeat. It was Demolition Man using the included wired handgun....basically exactly like the arcade shooters .

If they could implement a wireless handgun into a shooter game with todays graphics.....I bet it would be hugely successful. I just can't get into first person shooters anymore with just a controller :(

Hah, WOW. I haven't thought about that game/system in years. I had the 3do and the other one that was big at the time (cdi I think?) I was king of the dorms for 1 year b/c of those, and demolition man was definitely high on the list of 3do games.

COD4 is one of the best shooters I've ever played. You might like SOCOM when it comes out as well.

Also, be sure to update your PS3 and check out the new store. There are tons of cool and oldskool games you can download on the cheap.

I really like the direction Sony is going with the PS3 (finally).

If you like arcade games, download Puzzle Fighter II from the PS Store. Also, I recommend Super Stardust HD on the PS Store.

I think there are demos available for both games if you want to give them a try first.

COD4. I think it's actually easier than COD3. Ratchet &Clank for PS3 is indeed an awesome game. Great graphics. Blazing Angels is cool too, but it is indeed difficult. Has some framerate issues occasionally too. Been wanting to try Orange Box, I've heard good reports on that one.

Only two games I can recommend is Ratchet and The Show. The Show is strictly if you're a baseball fan, as it's the best one and only second to MVP 05. Ratchet, well what can I say.... it's Ratchet.

Other then that I can't really recommend alot, instead I'd say rent as many as you can. Lots of playstation games tend to recieve a certain amount or hype amongst it's users strictly because it's playstation.
I should've listened way back in 2008, they told me I'd go broke... they were right

Ok. I picked up Call of Duty 4 and I am updating my PS3 (v.1.90) with the disc now. I got my wireless controller ready. I still haven't figured out how to get online though.

I will say, the PS3 could double as an Easy Bake Oven.

I was thinking about you yesterday as I was checking out the new online store. There are tons of cool classic and new games that you can demo, buy, and download for free or cheap in the new store. I really like what they've done with it.

I highly suggest getting it online. COD4 is really the most fun online, and the store and so many other features rely on the internet.

Soon you'll be able to buy and rent movies, get your TV shows, and everything else via the store and other online resources.

You don't have to have a headset. I like having a headset.

1.) It removes all the chat from coming out of the tv or stero.

2.) COD4 is a game where a headset is actually useful if you are playing with a good team. This is not always the case.
