I have them running right now with a sony N80ES which claims 230 RMS. Now i cant seem to get these to run well, if i turn them up, the tweeters keep over heating. Now, I have 2 Sony TAN55ES amps. I am wondering if I could some how wire these up so each amp powers a seperate speaker? Or something called Bi-wiring..Either way, if someone can reccomend something that would be great. Thanks guys.

Run well? Overheating? Have you checked the antifreeze and tire pressure?
Seriously, how do they sound? And how and why did you discover the overheating? And how hot is hot?

You have to have a common ground amp to run SDA's with the crossover cable connected. Just for giggles, try running your setup without the crossover cable plugged in. If you don't have a crossover cable then try the other amps to see if your N80es is the problem.

I believe he means the poly switches are cutting the tweeters, not actual overheating."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Sorry, yes i mean the poly switches..and they just dont seem to produce the right ammount of sound. I know they are meant to be midrange speakers, I am not expecting to much bass, but just more overall. I turn the preamp to about 2/3's on the dial, and the switches kick in.

call Ken at Polk Audio and ask them to send you new poly switches.. they do go bad after a while... that may solve your problem. good luckPolkFest 2012, who's going>?

It's possible that the polys have been "switched" too many times and its time for a replacement or to pull them. The polys on my 2As kept switching, so I bypassed them and haven't had any problems since. It's not that the amp was having problems with the speakers, the polys were just old and switched too easily. Some people like to replace them for safety sake, I just clipped them.
Bi-amping them however is not possible unless modifications are made. -

What volume level in SPL are you at when this happens. Mine will kick off ~ 110dbs...way too loud. 2/3rds gain on the pre sounds very high to me.
Combo rig:
Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B

The problem is the amp is clipping when you have the volume at 2/3's, which is causing the poly's to kick in. Your poly's are working exactly as they are meant to. Typically, the usable clean power max's out about halfway on the volume control. You need to turn it down before you ruin the amp and the speakers. Watts per channel isn't the answer, current is, especially with SDA's. However, that still doesn't mean you can crank it to 2/3's.
Meant to be midrange speakers? Hardly! The 1C's are pretty much full range and are quite capable of producing more than ample bass. I've heard the 1C's run off an 80wpc tube integrated and they put out enough clean, deep bass to satisfy all but a few knuckleheads. I'd suggest you look at something other than Sony for power. Now, if you're a bass head and want that boom-boom crap that you hear in cars these days, you need to get a sub.
BTW, until you learn the limits of your gear, do not remove/bypass the polyswitches.Political Correctness'.........defined

Nope. 1Cs only have one set of binding posts, thus they cannot be bi-amped with out modifying them to have two sets of binding posts. Only then would they be able to be driven by two amps in this style. -
