LSi25 subwoofers

I own a pair of LSi25's and I just bought a Fathom F113. Now my question is should I try and defeat the subwoofer on my LSi25's and just use the F113 or should I get two F110s instead? Because the LSi25s have 10inch woofers built in to make it more uniform sound? I really want the deepest bass possible (thats why im thinking F113) but also the best sounding (and maybe that 2 F110s). Also, Id rather not have to defeat the subs in my towers either seeing that I spent the extra money for those towers with subs. What should I do? Thanks in advance.

From what i have read on the forms here it seems that people just flip the phase switch on the sub woofer to 180 because the lsi25 pull in when the other subs push out so they defeat each other. And on the deeper part if your looking for a sub that can produce a lower feq then go with the f113 but for more bass volume i think i would go with the f110. I have 2 of the psw 404 from polk and they can put out alot of air.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

If you want the best sounding and the deepest bass, you'll probably choose the dual Fathom subs.

Try running the Lsi25 both ways -- full range and with the sub defeated -- to see which one sounds best. It'll take lots of experimenting with placement and crossover settings.

FWIW - my speakers go as low as the Lsi25's and I run them full range with a pair of 10" subs.

I would not worry about defeating the subs on the 25's. The mids crossover to the subs at 80hz anyway in the crossover, so if you crossover to your external sub at 80hz - you won't be using the subs in the 25 very much at all. (depending on what the crossover slope in your avr or pre\pro is.)

You will have to mod the crossover to get the mids to play more of a full range signal to bypass the subs - its not like you can just unplug them and get the sound you want.....

If you really do not want to not let the woofers play, I would just sell them and get 9's, a decent set of stands and put any extra money to the second subwoofer.

Thanks for the replies, The 25's were my first high end audio purchase, although I auditioned them against a few different models before I purchased them Ive always loved the tweeter and overall sound on them. It wasn't until I heard the JL subwoofers that the thought of using my 9's as the fronts hit me. But, I dont want to sell my 25's because my wife knew at the time that I had to have them, Im sure you guys know that drill, now I have them I want to purchase something that'll work the best with them. Plus the wife likes them Aesthetically speaking, since they sit right in front, they are much nicer looking then the LSi9's. Anyway, Its not that I wanted to not play the subs in my 25's I just wanted to justify my choosing one larger subwoofer over two smaller ones. Ive seen a lot of guys on this forum have multiple sub like SVS and an LSi15 or 25's like you McLoki wondering about how the different sized subs went with the LSi15? How did you set this up to sound the best? I like heavy-deep-as-possible-musical-bass-that-can also be great for movies type subwoofer. Subwoofers create such drama, to movies and music the deeper the better for me So I liked the sound of the F113s. but the only thing that I was worried about was that it would sound "off" in my setup because Ive never heard a system with multiple sized subwoofers before and was a little nervous because of the size of the investment it wouldn't sound at all that great compared to if I had a uniform size all around. But I have not had the piece shipped yet because of this decision, Ive e-mailed Carl Kennedy over at JL to ask about this as well. I have not heard two 10" JL subs opposed to the 13" one. Plus Im hearing they are coming out with a F212, anyone hear about that one, supposedly two F112s in a tower. Anyhow, I wanted to them side by side before this is shipped to me.

It's not quite that easy, it depends on the room, the dimensions, the placement of the main speakers, the placement of the subwoofers and the listening position. The best rule of thumb is experimentation- there's no one size fits all solution.

Well the reason I have not heard the F110s is simple, they are not shipping yet anywhere from JL. There is also no ETA as to when they will ship either. So Im going ahead with the F113, the people from JL tell me that one F113 is the better choice anyway, in this scenario. Not sure if this is a sales pitch or not, to get me not to wait and possibly not purchase in the future or the honest truth. But JL tells me the performance will be better out of the single 13" woofer. So thats the route Ill go here, we'll see when I get it how it all works out.
