I think I'm going to order up one of the refurb 605s and give it a go. I don't want to spend an additional $200 for just pre-outs with the 705 as it's a short term investment until dedicated pre/pros drop in price.

4 ohm with a grain of salt. My LSi25's shut down my 4 ohm rated RX-V2200 at moderate volumes, so don't expect too much.

I would put them as a tie and the Elite ahead of the Onkyo.

I just went to order up a 605 and guess what, none left, so I did the next best thing, ordered up a 705. Hey, I've got 6 Adcom amps and this things got 7.1 analog outs. Now, I'll even see if I need these Adcoms, I'm going to wire this thing up with no out-board amps and just run the receiver first, 100wpc isn't too bad.

But damn, this things got a ****-load of bells and whistles.

I pulled the trigger on a 705 and a Hsu Ventriloquist system with the STF -2 subwoofer. I guess it will make a little decent bedroom set up.

Just FYI, Amazon has the 705, brand new for only $24 more then Onkyo's refurb price. I'll post my thoughts once it's all up and running.

Actually, the refurb via ShopOnkyo totalled $526.90, my brand new one from Amazon totalled $523.65 so it's cheaper for a new unit, seems that Onkyo site's not the best deal in town.

Yep. Me too. I was tempted to throw in the iPod dock but I spent enough money already. I am just going insane in this cramped little bedroom.

No tracking # yet, most likely tomorrow. Ground shipping is free so I'm looking at a little over a week before it hits my door step.

The one thing I hate about net shopping...the wait.

I understand your feelings on the wait time Ron. Here in Hawaii free ground shipping isn't an option. I always have to pay extra for Fedex or UPS and sometimes it can be expensive. 2nd day service is the cheapest option available to us.

Oh, there's something else that's tough to wait for, 10 days at Turtle Bay on Oahu in October.

I thought about paying the almost additional $50 but it'd only shave off a few days so it's not worth it. It's due to ship tomorrow so I'll have an update then.

I really am looking forward to this. My HD-A1 had pre-outs so I was able to listen to a few TrueHD tracks on some of my HD-DVDs, the difference is amazing. Having this will allow me full access to all lossless tracks on Blu. Very exciting.

Well Hsu has the STF2 sub on backorder so they are shipping the satellites first. I had to go to my storage space and dig up an old Velodyne CHT8 (my very first sub ever!:D) to use in the meantime.

I have not received any tracking numbers yet though.....

I wonder how much improvement the Hsu will be over the Velodyne...?Hmmmmm

Picked up a 805 a few weeks ago. I upgraded from the 605. The quality of the processors and the extra 35wpc is worth it alone. Plus now I have the option to add external amps.

Note that with the 10% off sale at Shop Onkyo that Danny mentioned, the net delivered cost of the factory refurb 705 would be about $439(with the $10 credit for registering for "Club Onkyo")and the 805 about $619. In each case there'd also be a 5% credit which could be used against future purchases.

Well I finally got it. I was not home when UPS came by and there was no mention from Amazon that it would require a signature, so I had to drive to Anaheim to pick it up between 8-8:30, the only hours the facility was open tonight.

As a bonus, I left home around 5 and went to Disneyland, the UPS faciltiy is only a couple blocks away. While there I got a cup of coffee, walked around, and bought my second Tink figurine for the theater...

    Tink.jpg?t=1209185764

It ended up being a very nice evening. Sometimes there's nothing more relaxing then going to Disneyland solo.

Those you can find anywhere online, besides, it's sitting on the coffee table while I demo all the gear in the theater. I'm going to revamp it all; the PS3, Onkyo 705, 2 Monster HTS-2500's, 6 Adcom amps and a 250 watt plate amp for the sub. Lots of gear to clean and relocate. It'll be a few days before the rig is up and running again.

On top of that, I'm taking off all the doors to the screenwall so the gear is exposed and visable. I'll have some cleaning and fabric work to do to the framework as well.
