Hey Fellow "POLK FOLKS"......thanks to those that answered my pleas for help, I was able to get the Carver 1.0t amps hooked up today and the SDA SRS "big ones" are pumping out pure Heaven!!! F1nut...you were right, my Amazings and the Polks do sound different but I like them both....Anyway, I am sooooooo happy that I purchased these beasts a week ago. Wish some of you lived close by (north central Arkansas) we could share the experience...even my wife loves them. I'm a lucky guy!!!

North central Arkansas where? I grew up in Searcy.
That's a nice combo you have there and I'm sure it sounds great. Of course, those speakers can handle wayyy more than that M-1.0t can do but, hey....it's a great start on them! I have an M-1.0t and although it doesn't get a lot of respect in the Carver world, I like the way it sounds.Richard? Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa? Lucky because your wife is so good to you and/or you have the top of the line SDA's and great Carver Amazings?
Congrats

We'll take turns calling and you can put the phone up for us to hear.:p:D
That's awesome you're enjoying them so much!!! -
Avguytx.....I live in Mountain Home.....a beautiful place!! We are surrounded by Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes. Most of the population is from other parts of the country coming here to enjoy the Ozarks and retire. Engtaz....you are right, I am lucky on all accounts!! Guys...these speakers are fantastic. They seem to have a fullness to them. I have them about 5 inches from the back wall as F1nut suggested and I like the bass.... The only thing I don't like is the preamp that I am having to use right now. It is an old Sony SQD-2020.....Yeah, I know....but I didn't have anything else unless I tear apart my Carver set up and use the C-4000t. I need to find an appropriate preamp.... Anyway, I am going back to enjoy these bricks!!

Hey Lightstar, do you know a guy name Jim Baker? He owns Baker Wrecking Service in Mountain Home. Perhaps he towed your car at one time? He's an older customer of mine, real nice guy.
I've been to Mountain Home several times...beautiful place.

Hey guys....some of you may know from another post I started tonight that I discovered that the 4 mids (left ones) on my left speaker are not working BUT they still sound wonderful....anyway, I have been getting some help and I am going through all of the suggested tests.....JOE, I do know the Baker family. The original family of Bakers owned most of this part of the country! I don't know if there is a Baker Wrecking Service since I couldn't find it in the phone book. Anyway, I live about a block south of the old Baker mansion which was quite a place in its day. I see you are in Quebec so how is it you know Jim??? What a small world!! Engtaz...I will take some pictures and try to post them but I will have to figure out how to post pics....Just learned how to do that on the OGR forum (o-gauge railroading forum)....

Lightstar....Officially it's "Baker Truck and Equipment Repair" on highway 5 South. I sell powered parachutes as a sideline and Jim bought one from me a number of years ago. I delivered it to him and trained him there. In my travels I've had the opportunity to visit with him in Mountain Home on several occasions.

Joe....I'll be darned!! I see those powered parachutes flying around this part of the country quite often. Just this past fall there were about a half dozen guys flying around east of town near the bypass around Highway 5 south.....wonder if at least one of them was Jim and maybe another one was you!!??

Yeah that's Jim and his friends for sure. I haven't been there in a few years. Here's my website: www.paraski.com

Joe...you wouldn't recognize Mountain Home!! We have gone through a hugh building boom especially east of town. We have added around 20K more people in the last 5 years. Now "joeparaski" makes sense!! Hope to meet you some day and if I see Joe, I will tell him I have been in contact with you. There might be a chance that I in fact run in to him someday since we own television stations and I act as the Marketing Director for my company....I visit businesses on a daily basis.

Quick question; in your 1st post you mention amps. Are you bi-amping? I hope you aren't running them in mono. I saw your other thread about common ground, etc.
Congrats, SDA's are in a league of their own and put big grins on my face everytime I listen.
I take it you got your "driver" issues solved; what was the problem?"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Hi Heiney9......thanks for your concern....I am not bi-amping. I am using a single Carver 1.0t in stereo to drive the speakers. I must say that they could use more but they still sound great with the Carver. As far as resolving the driver issue, nope!! Guys on the forum and still keeping up and trying to help. I have been taking their suggestions and trying to do what I can. I will be testing for "opens" this afternoon to see if their are any problems there but some think it could now be some sort of failure in the crossover....One thing I did notice that I have not mentioned....the amp's left channel seems to be "weak". Looking at the power led's, the left side just doesn't pump out as much, even in mono....so, I am going to switch wires on the back and see if running them the opposite wakes up the 4 drivers that don't make sound in the left channel by running it with the right side of the amp.

After I posted above I saw you had updated your other thread. So far you have been given good advice; exactly as I would have given. Talk to Ken at customer service (ask for him if he doesn't answer). He is the best at troubleshooting so you can ask him some questions while getting a hrad copy of the trouble shooting guide for SDA's."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. I'm confused, when you say mono do you mean bridged mono or do you mean using the balance control to run the L or R channel.
If you are running as bridged (which I'm sure you already know) is not a good thing with SDA's. Probably just confusion on the way things are worded."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. sorry to derail for a minute, but can use use mono or a dual mono amp with SDA's if you don't use the SDA cable with them? is that safe?PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Yes Al, you can use any amplifier IF the cable between the speakers is DISconnected. Not a problem."Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience.
