I cant decide which vintage polks to get.Help

I am in need of some help selecting a pair of speakers.My selections are--The monitor 10---Monitor 11T(towers)---SDA II---SDA-2A---OR energy connisseur C-8 towers.What do you all think is the best, 2nd best, etc.I have a pair of adcom GFA565 monoblock amps and a GFP555II preamp.Audioquest midnight biwire cables. I used to own a pair of LS70s but they got blown out completely by a power surge and I gave them to a co-worker.(That was a big mistake, I know.)I expect to spend around 250-450 depending on which ones.I know the energy C-8s are probably the best.Im curious about the polk 11t,as I cant find any reviews or info on them.Any one have those.AS good as LS70s????

Haven't heard the Energys, but when I was looking I saw a pair of LS90s and was really impressed. The guy who owned them was selling because he preferred the 11ts. I've since heard them...very nice...still prefer SDAs though. I don't think those 565s will work on 2As...I'm sure someone will be along to verify.

Well I can get the monitor 10s for 280.00 or the 11Ts for 285.00.And what is the problem with the 565 adcoms?Im curious to know what face means by strapping terminals and chassis etc.Are the 11Ts biwireable?And compatable with my adcoms?What about the SDA II speakers? There going to cost over 400.Are they worth that much.There in good condition. Im also looking at a pair of monitor 7s, 7As, and 7Bs.All are around 200-250.Good price?? what is the difference between those 3 models???

It sounds like too much money for all those models.

$280 for Monitor 10's is too much. I would never pay over $150 for Monitor 7's or 10's.

As for your amps, they aren't common ground, and you need common ground amp(s) to run most SDA's. I believe you can run SDA2B's and CRS+'s with mono blocks.

And as for bi-wiring, it's over rated.

Would using a 3-2 prong adapter for the amps work??The 7Bs are 125.The shipping is 80 bucks though. I guess I will have to go with the 11T or the energy C-8.Both of those sets look like there going to go for around 400.

where do you live? some of those prices are to much.. SDA2's for $400? a bit high to me. but then, i got my 2B's for $100

I live in state college PA.About a mile away from Beaver Stadium.And today is even the blue white penn state game day.150,000+ fans in town right now.Anyway those prices are what people are paying on ebay.(the shipping is what drives up the price so much)SDA II are 255.00 with 4 days left.Those will go up.However there is a pair of SDA-2A at 30.99+62.38 x2 shipping.2days left. Im willing to sell my amps.Would a adcom555 work?Or two 545s??I really want a pair of vintage polks.I loved my LS70s.

you might want to check craigslist in your state for some. i did.. and I have bought three pairs that way... but you do have to go pick them up. which in some cases is less expensive than shipping. but if they are across the state.. the shipping comes out the same when you figure in gas. but.. when I go pick up SDA's in my car.. i know they won't be damaged in transit to my house. there is some big benefit to looking on Craigslist for deals.

I looked at the craiglist and no polks.Yet.I did find a pair of speaker stands for my Klipsch v2/400 pc surround system though. COOL...

I would say yes. There is a set of SDA-2A's in the FM for $150. You may be able to work out shipping. I have a 545 running my 2A's with no issues. A 555 is plenty.

I say that's to much to.. esp when you figure in shipping.. which will prob be around $125 to $175 possibly then you're looking at nearly $500 for a pair of $200 speakers . but it's your money, not mine.

Those are a little to big.Id love to get them but its too much of a pain to drive all that way for speakers I wouldnt have room for.

I see you won these. They are actually SDA 2b's. Good price except you are going to have to buy another tweeter. One has an SL2000 and the other has an RDO 194 silk tweeter. Do yourself a favor and buy another RDO194 silk tweeter from Polk. $48 and change. I hope the seller knows how to ship speakers cross country. They are nice sounding SDA's nice purchase.

Yo you all.Im so excited about these.And yeah the shipping was 189.50.But I thought it was a good deal after I watched and saw what some other people were paying.I emailed the guy and asked him to try and make sure they got shipped on thier backs.I have to tell him about the 2-3 inches of foam also.His ad stated that 1 tweeter was replaced and 2 mid drivers also.I already called polk to see how much replacement drivers would cost.Why should I go with the silk tweeter? (I like my highs on the bright side so which one).I also have about 8 pair of good cables in my watch list all going for 50-120 a pair.What kind of posts do these have.Should I get vampire spades or banana plugs???
