I'm needing help in finding 18" foam surrounds for my Fostex 18" woofers.

Model FW 507

17 3/4" frame, 15 1/4" cone, 5/8" frame to cone gap. Surround sits under cone edge, angled approximately 40 degrees.

Any help would be appreciated. I spent about 3 hours today on the net and phone trying to find surrounds for these.

Thanks,

HB

    Shameless bump.
    HELP!!!
I hope someone knows a good supplier of foam surrounds for the Big 18" Fostex woofers.
I finally heard back from Fostex Inc. and the woofs were discontinued in '89 and no parts or service is available through the company.

there is bound to be something that will/can work. have you tried known re-coners? like:

    http://www.simplyspeakers.com/15refoaming.htm
    http://www.speakerrepair.com/OCSreinf.html
    http://www.speakerdoctor.com/refoam.html

all of those do 18", but you will have to ask about your driver in particular.

I've checked with all of them and all their email replies were "NO". I've talked on the phone to most places on the net I can find.
The speakershop.com in Ohio is a possibility but the owner is out of town for another week or so and the "Salesperson" has no idea of what they carry in service or parts. I did receive an email from the owner and he will check when he returns.
The circuitshop.com in Kentwood Michigan is a company I deal with on a regular basis and they're not sure they can refoam or even recone them until they have them in hand.
I'm not holding my breath and I'll continue my search until I find them.
Re'coning is an option but these are original Fostex and I'd like to keep them original as possible. Also there's a possibility they can't be reconed as NO ONE has any specs on these. Fostex is like most of the companies now and their support doesn't really like to deal with their discontinued products.
I would really prefer to refoam these if it all possible. Recone is my last resort.
Thanks for the links though and your trying to help. I really do appreciate all the help and info I can get.
