Matching PSW1000 with RT3000 subs

I recently purchased the PSW1000 from Bronson here on the forum and have added it to my RT5000 setup. I have it configured now to where it blends quite nicely but I have a question. Here is how I have things configured now:
On the AVR, speakers are set to Large
RT3000 subs are connected to the L/R line-level outputs and x-overs set to 80hz
PSW1000 is connected from Sub output on AVR to L input, not LFE input and x-over set to 60hz. This is where it seems to blend best.
When I set the speaker size on the AVR to small, things don't sound good as the PSW1000 seems to become over-bearing and to 'directional'
What I'm curious about is the PSW1000 has a volume control that goes to 11. I have it set at about 1 to 1.5 and it sounds really good. It blends and I don't get a sense of any directional bass. Any louder than that and it become too loud for the rest of the system for music. On movies a 2 does really well and at 3, the house begins to vibrate.:D
Does this setup seem normal or am I missing there being a reason why I don't seem to need 90% of the output capability of the PSW1000? Maybe because the RT3000's are producing a good portion of the bass signal range, the PSW1000 just has to fill in the very bottom?

Not sure if this is any help, but I normally run my SVS at mark 2 of 8, and I sometimes find that to be a bit much.dvd player: samsung DVD-HD850

Ive found that the PSW1000 sound even better when its placed inside a cabinet in front of the room. Not sure why this is, when I demo that box it sounded really good at low volumes placed inside the wall cabinet. I compared it to a Martin Logan Descent sub and a high end focal sub ive never seen before and the polk really sounded just as good if not better than those two. The focal sub was like 3 - 4k too.
