Hi guys and gals...
OK.....in a previous post, I had asked if the Carver 1.0t amp is a "common ground" amp. Several replies came in with the most helpful one being a series of tests which would mean I would have to purchase a few electrician's tools. I would like to avoid that if I can if someone out there has the answer....I have a pair of SDA SRS speakers and would like to listen to them using the Carver 1.0t amp I have. Most folks believe it will be alright but since I haven't gotten a YES FOR SURE answer, I just want to make sure my lack of knowledge won't cause a problem. I don't mean to be "stupid" at this point but I am just learning and need to know if one of you great folks have the answer....someone must know the answer!! Thanks for your time......

All you need is a volt-ohm meter available at any Rat Shack. They have cheap ones.

No question is stupid when it comes to possible damage to your gear. To my knowledge, the only Carver amp that is not common ground is the M-500t. I'm not even 100% positive about that though. It comes from a collective knowledge of reading. Unfortunately I haven't had to pursue the question that you have so that is why I cannot answer your question with certainty.

Give it a couple of days and you will find your answer. Many members here have had to find out the hard way and some members already know the answer to your question off the top of their head. Welcome to the forum and congrat's on your recent purchase!

BTW, if you do not receive an answer you might try giving Rolland a call. He will know fo' sho'.

I'm using the m1.0t on my SDA 1b's and previously on my SDA 2b's with no problems.

Or quit being lazy, take my advise, and go get a cheap multi-meter like Jesse suggested. :p You'll end up using it more than you initially think anyway.

The last time I bought "cheap" concerning a MM, I got cheap. Damn thing lasted one test. Well, really not even one test. Smelled the magic smoke and that's all she wrote. Why buy when he can get his question answered in one phone call or advice from a trusted member?

On another note......yeah, they do come in handy and you WILL use it more than you think. Keep in mind though, if you don't know how to use one......don't bother. ;)

Hey thanks treitz3....I am new to all of this. I am one of those idiots that happens to like good audio stuff and have accumulated quite a collection but have finally decided that I need to learn more than I think I know....I am counting on you guys to answer some of my questions. I will go out and buy a good meter and like you do have one...or did...but it was cheap and I could not get it to work when I tried to go through the tests that were suggested so...... Anyway, I like to "play nice" with others on forums and took the comment that zingo made probably too seriously....sorry.

Lightstar, I didn't mean to offend you with my comment earlier. Welcome to the forum and I'm glad you found an awesome pair of SDAs. Good luck working out all the bugs and PM me any time if you have questions or whatever.

Hey Zingo....no need to apologize!! As I said, I took your comment too seriously and just was a little touchy at that particular moment because of my lack of knowledge. I appreciate you taking note and I am proud to be part of this forum....thanks for the welcome! The amplifier questions were answered and the SDAs I bought have one problem which I have posted in the troubleshooter thread. I got a lot of help there and have isolated the specific problem.....now I have to find someone to fix it!!
