TV hook-up to Onkyo SR805 problem

Hi,
All my stuff arrived except for the Panasonic DVD, and now I can't play my TV. It's a plasma set (sony) but not HDF so I used Red, green and blue component wiring from TV to onkyo SR805.
When the TV is on via the cable remote all I get is a blank screen and when I try to program it with the onkyo remote to 'hardware' nothing happens.
So...... I"m lost. But I did hook up my ipod and the music to the RT10's and
A6's and Pro500 sub is just unbelievable - it's like being in a symphony hall and after I get the TV done, I want to balance the sound with the microphone they give you.
After some savings, I'll get a HDTV. But the sound is just georgeous and I was able to do this only because of the people here so I want to thank you for your expertise and patience and knowledge.
The sound is just beautiful.
Bruce

How is your cable box connected to the 805?

I didn't do this. How do I do this from the way it's set up now ( before a receiver) and then do I have to program the receiver and how is that best done?
    Thank you

You are missing a connection from the source (cable box). Get one more component cable and go from the cable boxes' component out, to the component IN on the Onkyo. Also, take note of which component out on the 805 is going to the TV, ie 1,2,3.

Then, in the Onkyo setup menu you will need to define the input and output for 'TV'.

If your cable box has HDMI use it instead of component cables, then if you cable was going to say HDMI2 on your 805, assign your receiver to the proper input and your TV. I think I said that right.;)

Whichever you choose (HDMI or Component):
As others mentioned you need to assign it:
    HERE's HOW:

    A) Setup
    B) Next: Input/Output Assign
    C) Next: HDMI Input OR Component Video Input
    -- select the input number...

If you are NOT using HDMI While in Input/Output Assign Menu
be sure to also set the Digital Input if you are using either Coaxial or Optical input number.

Full explanation begins on page 46 of your manual.

This tells me you are just trying to get sound out of the receiver when watching tv, what you do is connect the cable box to the receiver and then the receiver to the tv. Or you could run a video feed to your tv and an audio feed to your radio. Im sure you figured out something by now, let me know what it was you did! ehe
