just bought rti12's but which amp?
Hi All.
My first post but have been reading these boards for some time.
I just purchased rti12' s for the front and a csi5 for the center.
I also just upgraded my receiver to the Denon AVR-987 (same as AVR-2807). I know the AVR is rated at 110 wpc but I have the opportunity to pick up an Emotiva LPA-1 used for $250 to $300.
The LPA-1 is rated at 125 wpc.
1- Am I going to feel the difference between the LPA-1 and Denon??? I have searched around and could not find a definitive answer.
2 - I know AVR's wpc are usually overstated but will the difference be enough to justify the purchase of the LPA-1?
3 - Is the LPA-1 sufficient enought to push the rti12's or should I looked for a used NAD, Adcom, Rotel, etc. instead for $350 to $500 that can do 200 wpc???
Thanks everybody for the help!

Welcome to club Polk.
If you have been reading the posts for a while you should know your answer. This same question has been beaten to death for the last 3 months solid. There isn't a day that goes by without this topic being debated. Check the new post button out, and the search button. Yes the amp will kick the **** out of the Denon, or nearly any other receiver out there.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

I believe more is better & if you can get your hands on a 200wpc amp you will like it alot. Or you can go for the ever nebulous undefined, un-named 'quality' over quantity lesser watt amp & hope you notice a difference.
Get a used Rotel, Adcom, Parasound, Nad, Sunfire, etc from Audiogon & you will be good to go. I had a Parasound HCA1500A that really rocked & showed me what my 18 yr old speakers are capable of!
All of these companies put out good 'quality' products.
Good luck.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Just curious, how much did you get the 12s and csi5 for??
The sound advice (tweeter) here in orlando has RTi12s for $238.40 EA and the CSI5 for $158.40 in cherry, if i hadn't already got my current speakers i would've jumped all over these and saved some $ in the process  -
Just as a suggestion you might want to look at the carver stuff. i got my carver m1.5t which is 350 watts rms at 8 om for about 350 shipping. there is less powerful stuff from carver but at about a dollar per watt.If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

That's exactly what I did
Sooo, is the consensus that the emotiva lpa-1 would not be worth the upgrade over my Denon avr-987???

i bought the lpa-1 to use with my onkyo 805. It did make a difference, but i kinda wish i would have gotten the xpa-5 which is 200 wpc. Either way, emotiva is a great company to deal with

You need more power. Get the best amp you can afford.
