Whats up fellow polkies,
Have you benn watching the stanley cup playoffs lately? ok, probably 9 out of 10 of you haven't but..:p Well, if you have, you might of notice my penguins are kicking ottawas ****! Paybacks a ****, ain't it:D.
Anyways, looking around the league, we got some great series shaping up, particularly the calgary/ san jose series. For a team to lose a 3-0 lead (after scoring all of them 3 min into the 1st) and come back to beat calgary the next game shows some character. I look forward to game 7 in that series.
Pittsburgh is the favorite to head to the finals and I really want them to, but I still have doubts about a full playoff run. Even though I hate the Rangers, I think they will "upset" pittsburgh in second round(consiidering phily and montreal wins) and head to the cup finals, then lose to San jose. But what do I know, I picked minnesota last year:eek:
So,I know i'm a little late asking this question but whats your prediction for the cup finals?
GO Pens! bring out the broom!

Who said the Pens are the favourite to lead the eastern conference? -

The sens don't deserve to win this year.

Im a Canadiens fan but don't hold much hope of them beating anyone other than the Bruins.I like the young and talented players the Pens have and if the Habs can't do it I hope they can.Testing

I'm in BC and the Canucks didn't even make it this year :-{ Normaly I love this time and I'm trying really hard to get into it but tonight Ottawa got knocked out. I'm not a Canadiens fan and Calgary is a Vancouver rival. Slim pickins for me. I'll watch the finals though..it's always good hockey.SDA-1C (full mods)

-Payback is a ****... or it will be next season during the first Sens-Leafs game. Pens are done now anyways. Montreal or Minnesota will take it. 3'rd choice would be the Flames!

Of course, I had to hear the cry from ottawa fans:D, I'm surprised you guys haven't been complaining as much as your coach has;). Instead of Murray looking at how his team was completely dominated(like the pens were last year), he makes up all these excuses about the refs:rolleyes:. refs don't allow 55 shots in a game, its called bad defence.AVR: H/K AVR240

Ok. For any of you who watched the game last night (yeah, I'm talking to you Canadiens), that was maybe one of the best games I have seen in a long time. Great goals, fast pace action, a score to save the season with 35 seconds left, triple overtime, what else could you ask for, except maybe a penalty shot in OT. However, even though we won the game, I cant see us winning two more times playing as inconsistant as we did in game 5(or the series for that matter). But what do you guys think, will my pens win three in the row to raise the cup!?!
By the way, I hope some of you non-hockey fans (Americans) took a little time out of your busy lives to watch some of that game, that game is what hockey can and should be like. Hope game 6 is no different (penguins victory included:D)

While I am very disappointed that there are no Canadian teams in the final, I am a true Canadian diehard hockey fan. I will watch it right to the final. I dont pout and turn the TV off because my team is not there. Nor do I start cheering when I think a team near me might win. I AM CANADIAN and we love hockey. Besides, throwing something through my 50 plasma is NOT an option. Not like before when TVs were cheap. Hell, Messier should be bringing the Stanley Cup to my house. Bring the CUP to Yellowknife Mark.
NOTE: 2 appointments were cancelled tomorrow evening due to the game. Pick another night.
One player I love to watch is Sidney Crosby. Even though he is a great player, I do not think he has done much in the Detroit series and personally I think he needs to mature somewhat. Anyway, hes a Canadian and I have to root for him. So I have been pulling for Pittsburg since the Canadian teams were eliminated and I like to see the underdog come through when my team is not there. Can they do it? The odds are slim but winning game 6 puts all the pressure on Detroit. Should be a good game tomorrow.Michael

I'm counting on Detroit to be all business tonight. What ruined them the other night was the Detroit home crowd chanting "we want the cup". I believe it re-energized the Pens to get that last minute goal. Fleury is the main reason the Pens were able to stay in that game. He was amazing in the 3rd period and in OT. When your team gets out shot 58-32, but wins by 1 goal, your goalie is doing something right.
For the record, I've never been a big fan of Osgood. He has an impressive record in the playoffs with quite a few shutouts, but I credit that more to his excellent defensive players, and the great puck control that the rest of the team has. The Wings are almost always out shooting their opponents by a big margin and that helps keep the pressure off Ozzy. Under heavy pressure, he almost always folds.
GO WINGS! (In Georgia for 12 years, but spent my first 26 years just outside the Detroit metro area)For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Wings look like a much better team right now. Pittsburgh is going to loose unless Crosby bails them out with some amazing goals. Zetterburg and Datsuk have been amazing all year and I don’t see that changing now.

Congrats to the Red Wings! They out played the Penguins plain and simple and deserve the Cup.
The Pens don't need to hang their heads. They ate their Eastern Conference opponents alive, going 12 wins and just 2 losses.
I'll bet their was some hearts stopped in Detroit tonight during the last two minutes. The Pens were a lucky bounce away from tying it at the end of regulation. Pens couldn't get a break all series, Detroit definitely played better.
Maybe next year!

Great game last night. Although Detroit clearly looked like the better team through most of 3 periods, that last power play goal, and last second shot on goal really had me thinking it was going to be a repeat of Monday night! Like Osgood said, they always have to make it interesting! Pittsburg should be a contender for the next several years if their core stays together. For rig details, see my profile. Well, congrats to the wings on their cup victory last night. That third goal just killed us. Just when momentum start going our way that damn puck SOMEHOW went in. It seemed no one even realized it went in except the one that mattered, the ref:(. I guess I'm happy the cup went to a city that actually cares about hockey.
In 2006, I was so excited when the steelers won the super bowl. Seeing the city come together to celebrate the victory was a sight to see. But I always said (under great criticism), winning the stanley cup would mean a lot more to me. I think the NHL playoffs is the ultimate test of physical and mental strength as a team. There is no three (well, at least three) wins to win a championship here. Takes 16 tough and grueling victories, something others sports (not even basketball) can touch. And the pens were only 2 away...:(:(
Anyways, the better team did win. Congrats detroit.AVR: H/K AVR240
