    That wouldn't be a bad idea for here but I'm sure the two channel section will sufiice. It's been relatively quiet around lately no sense in starting a war.

    I went back to a CD the other day. It skips like mad! Upon holding said CD up to a light, several pin-sized holes in the aluminum data layer become visible. Yay, CD disc-rot after only 16 years! I don't trust the stuff as a long-term storage media, and even hard drive based solutions require maintenance.

    I think the median age of my vinyl records is about 30 years. No holes in any of 'em yet! :p

    Do stay away from the colored vinyl (especially pink), though - that stuff has issues.

    Many people don't realize the main problem with CD's being damaged is the top of the CD becoming scratched. If the top of the CD gets a scratch on it, it's gone. If you don't believe me, try scratching a blank one with a knife, then hold it up to the light. I put a clear plastic label on the top of all my CD's to protect them from this. That won't make them sound as good as vinyl though.
