Hey all,

I am moving to manhattan, and I have gotten rid of my collection of floor speakers for ease of moving and space saving in those tiny apartments. I am trying to decide between the Monitor 30s and the RTi A1s. Do the RTi's sound a lot better? They are 3x the price, but I would go with them if they deliver 3x the sound quality.

I have a Pioneer receiver, and these would be my only speakers.

Thanks!

Rti's are better. I owned a pair of monitor 40s and rti6s. Liked them both but definately favored the rtis.. You can probably find a pair of rti6s somewhere for a very good price, probably comparable to the monitor40s. I actually saved money when I upgraded to the rti6.

I would actually consider trying to find a used pair of RT25i, or RTi28. Both are a little smoother on the top end in my opinion, and can be had for a fraction of the price. I'd probably recommend the 25's over the 28's.

    Just a thought.

My father in law purchased the RTi-A1's for 5 channels of his 6.1 system. They sound surprisingly good. The RTi6's (I have a pair in the bedroom) are great speakers as well and would be worth trying to track down if you don't mind used.

RTi6's would be my first choice. (looks like about $270 new but I am not sure they are an authorized dealer if you care about such things....)

Those seem pretty hard to track down - Polk even hides them on their site so you can't browse to them (at least not easily).

Thanks for the input - I like the form factor of the Rti4's / RTi A1's a little better. The 6.5 woofer just seems a little large to be setting on a bookshelf. Where do you have yours set up?

I am also looking at the Paradigm Atoms. There is a set on eBay right now, how much do they usually go for?

RT25i's pop up on eBay pretty frequently. Not sure about 28's because I haven't really been watching them lately.
