Hey Guys,
Newbie here.I just purhased the psw 303 to go with my lsi 15's,lsi c, and in ceiling surrounds. The room is an open room which extends into the kitchen.(approx 14x18)
The person who is going to do the installation suggested the I might want to exhange the 303 for a more powerful sub.I have read reviews on Amazon where peopel were sayiing they are happy with the 303 who had bigger rooms than mine.(not sure which speakers they had)
What do you guys think, stay with the 303 or excgange it for something else?
Thanks in advance.

I'd suggest getting the PSW505 at the minimum with a caveat to find out if you can demo the new DSW series subwoofer from Polk.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I've got a PSW303 in my HT setup in my family room which adjoins to the kitchen - the 'left' wall therefore is open.
I've got RTi4s for fronts and surrounds.
The fronts are preout driven from my AVR (Yamaha RX-V1800) to a Carver M1.0-t and I've got the PSW303 hooked up the "Polk Way" off of the Carver.
The crossover is set to about 80Hz and the volume to about 1 o'clock.
My setup is here:
I typically listen to "Smooth Jazz", sometimes hard rock, getting into Blu-Ray just now.
I like to fill the room with sound - the other night I had PotC (Black Pearl) cranked up to -3db and the Carver was barely breathing and the PSW303 was pumping out some healthy bass that filled the room which I felt in me bones.
I'm quite happy with the setup and the PSW303 -especially for the price I got it at.
Do I consider my modest HT as 'high end'? No.
Would I get better sound with more money or a better sub? Sure.
Am I content with the sound I'm getting within my budget? Yep!
Your decision rests with listening expectations and budget.
YMMV,
Erik

That's one helluva recommendation, thanks for posting that Erik
The "felt in me bones" comment has me giddy and your comments resonate with the retail market.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -

Hehehe - I just wish I could make a living at retail.
Unfortunately, I'd be the first to admit I'd fail miserably at dealing with customers!
I'm all about getting the best you can afford - then being mindful of upgrading when 'allowed'.
Cheers,
Erik

Just picked one of these up off of Polk's Ebay store and cant wait to get it hooked up. Im on a limited budget so this seemed like the best value I could find. I got this for $122 so Im feeling pretty good about it.
My TV/movie room is roughly 11' x 19' but the tv and couches are in one half of the room and the other half is where all the bookshelves and CD racks are so the actual listening area is more like 11' x 11' (and its the basement so that might help). This is for 99% movies and will be paired up with a cheap set of Sony floorstanders (hey they were only $120 a pair and will hold me over til I can get a set of Monitor 60's) with 8" midbass drivers in them powered off a good quality Pioneer receiver.
Im not a bass head but I do like my movies at a "stout" volume. Y'all think the little 8" can keep up? Judging by my experience with the Momo line of car subwoofers and now the SR's, I feel pretty confident it can.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

Well - since you've already bought it - only one way to find out!
If the place you bought if from has an exchange policy, you could always return it for a bigger sub if the PSW303 doesn't work out.
I'm still happy with mine!

I have two psw 404 witch has the 10'' sub. It makes a lot of bass but the only thing i want is for it to go below 20 hz. I guess i need to upgrade. If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

I upgraded my PSW303 to a PSW505 for the downstairs media room (approx 14'x30') a few months ago, bought new off Amazon for a great (closeout?) price. The increase in performance is unbelievable! If you can switch out your 303 for a 505, I'd do so, esp. if you'll move this to a bigger room in the future...
BTW, my 303 is now doing duty in the main level family room/den, and it's about the perfect size for that area.
