    Joe,

The DSP-AZ1 is the european version of the RXZ-1.

In North America it is the RXZ-1.

It doesn't matter the two are exactly the same.

Remember the the DSP-A1? Well Japan had the DSP-AX1. I actually met a guy that went to Japan and bought it there and brought it back and found out they he paid more for it than his buddy paid for the DSP-A1 and they were exactly the same except for the power supply. Boy was he mad.

the reason i posted about the dsp-az1 is the power it haves, for home theater you need a minimum of 200w per channel to have ultimate in sound. and this amp would be the ticket.

    we should protest to yamaha

    Joe,

Why do you need 200 watts a channel for home theater?

Good question, I've got 80/ch, and I think my HT is pretty damn special. ;)

    Cheers,

It's just a gold RXZ1. Cool if you like gold though! :)

Don't let the power rating fool you. The line above the ratings says Max Power - it's peak. If you click the more information link, a pdf file will open and it shows the rms power there. Certainly a sweet receiver.

Where did this come from? A real 80watts and up can hit reference levels in a small to mid size room if properly calibrated.

I agree with scottvamp. Proper matching of components is the key, although it's a lot easier to have too little power than it is to have too much.

BTW, I just picked up a Yamaha RX-V2300 today. I did a direct comparison of it, the RX-V1300, and Denon 2802 and 3803 receivers. The Denons had a brighter sound that matched some speakers better than others. I thought the Yamahas had a richer, fuller sound. It drives my SDAs very cleanly.

Nice pick up, man. With any luck I'll be getting my 2300 or 3300 in the next few weeks.

Abmarsh how much did you pay for the RX-V2300 and where did you buy it?
