I just received the Acoustic Research Pro II Performance Power Cord from Parts Express that I ordered. I needed to order some other parts from them and saw this, so I thought I'd throw it in the basket and see what I get. It has 12g conductors, two copper braids and one aluminized mylar layer for shielding, a braided jacked to protect from abrasion, as well as a ferrite piece which could be good or bad in the audio department. The construction seems good, although the mesh jacket feels rougher than Techflex. Because of the 12g conductors, the cable is very stiff and will not make tighter bends than about a 6" U. However, it does hold its shape, so as long as you can route it where you want it, it will stay in place. I'm not expecting the world from this cord, but for under $40, it would be a good upgrade for anyone from a stock cable who can't or doesn't want to afford a "premium" brand. I have not had a chance to do a comparison yet, but when I do, results will be posted.

I just tested this cable against my PS Audio Punch cord and they sound the same; which is pretty good since the AR cord is $12 cheaper. ($38 for 1m) Now, the fit and finish of the PS Audio cord is definitly better, and it is a lot more flexible, but if you want a cheap cord that sounds good, the AR is for you! I highly recommend it as a budget cable that will give you more performance than you pay for.
