Just got an XboX!! but I only have enough money for one game (for now). Excluding sports titles because I have tons on PS2, what should I get? What are some of the must haves for xbox and what should I NOT waste my money on. I like all genres of games. Thanks for your input.

    Splinter Cell

    Spider-Man

    Halo

    Max Payne

    Dead or Alive 3

    Dead to Rights

Take your pick there is a lot of awesome games on XBOX

Currently I am playing Splinter Cell and it is awesome. It's a tactical espionage game kind of similar to Metal Gear Solid 2 but more realistic.

After I am done I am going to invest in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon.
    I love Military simulators

Don't want them playing any shoot 'em up games.

Star Wars Jedi Outcast seems tame enough.

    Tiger Woods Golf looks fun.

Games they get w/ the console on xmas day include Sega GT 2002 and JSRF.

Wow! Amazing surround on Sega GT 2002 and Quantum Redshift (demo disk) and to some extent, Jedi Outcast.

Also tried feeding the S-Video from the Xbox and DVD player into the Denon w/ corresponding monitor S-video out to the TV. Noticeable loss in picture quality on the DVD player, so am going back to coaxial in on the TV.

Wasn't using to line s-video cable but can't believe that was sole reason picture quality on the DVD sufferred. Much better when s-video running directly into TV from DVD player.

Is it ever!!!!! I played it again once I got my new HT speaker setup for X-Mas. I was like playing a whole new game all over. The sounds are incredible.

I agree with Halo, it truly is a game that must be played in DD. As far as other games go, I really like Sega GT 2002 and Amped (snowboarding). However I also play NFL 2k3 and Splinter Cell at the moment as well.

For XBox Live I love playing Mech Assault, Ghost Recon and Unreal Championship. You can't go wrong with any of those.

As far as future releases .. I'm looking forward to Panzer Dragoon Orta and DOAX Volleyball. ;) Those will be my next purchases ! And don't forget, Halo 2 will be out sometime later this year. ;)

Panzer Dragoon Orta was very pretty...short, but beautiful (I'll still be playing it 10 years from now, tho.)

If you can only get ONE game, then buy Steel Battalion ;)
    it's worth every penny....

buy yeah, you can't go wrong with Halo, as overrated as it is. every xbox owner should have this...just make sure you've got some friends to play with. most stores are selling it for $30-40 (CC has it on sale this week for $40, along with Splinter Cell and one other title). Pricematch it @ Best Buy if you're supercheap.

If I were you, I'd buy 3 $19 games. MediaPlay had a sale a couple weeks ago, 2 for $30. You might also check KB Toys and Sears (had some closeouts recently).

    also,

pick up the Monster gamelink cables for your XBOX....the component version + optical cable is a MUST if your TV/receiver supports it!
absence of existence is not existence of absense....just existence of nonsense amongst provincial obstinates

Get Splinter Cell. Don't get Halo. First person shooters are best left on the PC. I can go on and on about this. Splinter Cell is awesome. I can't wait until it comes out on PC
