I Just bought a 1998 Dodge Ram Club Cab to add to my fleet of company trucks. I am wanting to do a decent set-up and will be using a Alpine 9886 to a PDX4.150 and PDX1.1000 I am considering the MoMo 6x9's on the front doors since 6x9's were in it. I am not sure what way to go with Subs that would sound good but not be way overpowering. I have looked into the JL Smart Box that replaces the front center seat with a JL seat that houses a 12w3 firing down. This take 500 Watts. I also have looked at JL Smart box that goes under the rear bench that has two JL 10w1's that requires 300 Watts. My last option is a Box built that goes under the rear seat that can hold two 10's or two 12"s with a 1.2 of air space for eather one since all that changes is the hole.

MAC, How is your Rams subs set-up?? I think I remember reading that you have a 02 Ram.

I have an 07 Honda Accord now but I had an 02 Ram for 5 years and a 00 Ram for 2 years before that and if gas wasnt heading for $10 a gallon, Id likely have an 07 Ram right now instead of an Accord.

I built a box to fit in the storage hole under the rear passenger seat. Your model Ram doesnt have these storage holes - theyre just flat under there which makes it 10 times easier to use a sub.

That being said, the best place to put a sub is to replace the center console and the JL Stealthbox is exactly what Id use. Pulls the bass up front really nice (although a little tuning will be in order to keep it from overpowering the front stage) and you dont lose any storage space.

    Hey Mac,
I picked this truck up for a steal! I was looking for another work truck and got this for $6000! It has 136,000 miles on it with the 360 and new Transmission, Sport model with club cab 4X4, Runs Excellent and the only flaw on the outside is a little rust on the rear bumper so that has been ordered. I pulled the entire interior out including the roof liner Pressure Washed it and put in Sound Deadner all around. I am putting on a set of 285/75/16 to set it up a bit.

What is your thought on this, the JL Box has a 12w3v2 but found the same box on ebay built for a (10" .66) or (12" .88) that is built for the ram. It is $165 but you put your own sub in it. The JL Smart box is $550. How would SR12 perform in this box given a .88 of air space.

Do you think the 10" or a 12" for the sub and given the air space what sub would work best? If you think the JL 12W3v2 would be better than great I will do it.

As for tuning I was only going to run the Alpine 9886 with the PDX Amps. What would you think would be good to ad for tuning but cheaper since my other has the H701.

    Thanks

.88 would be too small for the SR12. The Momo 12 would fit just fine in that tho and would be comparable to a JL W3.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
