Nice amp. Lot of power for that kind of price.

For all you yahoos running LSis on a receiver and/or low powered amp, give this a try. You'll break even (or make a few bucks) when you sell it. Carver gear is going for big prices on the open market these days.

Holy Crap! Thats a good price!

I would think it would bring $400.00 to $500.00 on ebay easy.

I should know. I was watching them forever. I really wanted one but didn't want to pay $500.00 for one.

I wish I wasn't so tied up in other audio areas right now or I would take it.:(

    Good luck on your sale.

    It should go quick.

Would this be to much for rti8s? Also is it ok to use with ht.
Im running a 3.1 as of now, about 60/40 movies/music. But my onk 805 doesnt cut it for music..

I ran it with 8's and pushed them nicely. Definitely not too much. just peachy with HT,let your Onk handle the other channels.

Thats what I would do, considering I only have a center channel. When I listen to music I use 2 channel stereo. I have a svs 25-30 pci for bass.

I basically want a amp to make my rti8s sing while listening to music. With ht the onk does just fine, but with music I want more. I have my eye on a adcom 5503 3 channel for 575 shipped. I just dont want to spend that much and I really dont need to power the center channel, I basically just need a 2 channel.

Then this would do you perfect. It's a great amplifier and resale value seems to be going thru the roof.

    I have a few questions:
Is it ok to leave this powered on? I will have it plugged into a power conditioner.
Or should I turn it off after every use, the old lady wont like that when she wants to watch tv.
Also is the 350watts to much for my 20w-250w speakers? I want my speaks to last..
    Im VERY interested Dave!

You'll be fine leaving it on all the time. My Carver amp was powered up 24/7 for years, exception being during thunderstorms. You won't have a problem with the power, either. Clean power doesn't damage speakers as their power handling ratings may suggest. This is a hell of an amp for a great price, you will enjoy it.

You should be fine. The carver design is very efficent and should not produce alot of heat. That translates into not using alot of power when idling.

You will be fine here as well. You blow speakers by underpowering them, not overpowering. My speakers are rated at 350wpc (fronts) 250wpc (center) and 150wpc (rears) and it sounds fantastic and I have never had a problem running them all with my 500wpc amp.

As stupid as it sounds, I would treat the max WPC of the speakers as the minimum WPC of amp you should try to purchase. (unless you know what you are looking for and trying for a particular sound)

An amp only puts out full rated power with the volume all the way up. You'll only damage a speaker with too much power if you crank it like crazy. Those speakers would probably deafen you being fed 250 watts, so you'd never have a reason use the amp's full capacity. Most listening is done under 25W anyway. By the time my meters are showing 150W/ch on my SDAs (rated at 1000WPC max) the walls are rattling and I'm wearing hearing protection.

I like signal cables, but Blue Jeans cables are nice as well.

You could always go the used route to find some cables that are typically out of your price range for a good deal. I have not used the more expensive cables yet though so I cannot recommend any over any other....

Right now for speaker wire I bought a 50' spool of 12 gauge commercial grade wire.
    28 bucks lol.
I wonder how much of a difference a nice pair would make..
