Question about Peerless Tweeters

I have a pair of early monitor 10's with peerless tweeters. One of the tweeters is bad so I have been looking for a replacement. I have found one that supposedly came out of a monitor 5. The guy says that he thinks it is a peerless hf1000. It looks identical to the ones I have except it doesn't have the pin hole in it. Does anyone know if this tweeter is suitable to use with an original one that came for polk? Also if I use this one should I try to put the pinhole in it?
Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris.

I've had peerless without the pinhole in my monitor 7's, and have not been able to tell the difference.
Have you confirmed that the problem is the tweeter, and not the fuse (if your speaker has them)? Maybe a lose connection, or something in the crossover? Try swapping tweeters and see if the problem follows the tweeter. Double checking won't hurt._________________________________________________

Thanks for the info. The tweeter is definitely the problem. I hooked another one up in its place and it worked fine.
Thanks
