Just got done watching the HD DVD.

Not at all what I was expecting. In a good way. Its a very atypical movie. Certainly does not have that Hollywood feel to it.

Viggo Mortensen was excellent. Between this and the LOTR movies, now I will be actively searching for his other films.

Naomi Watts looks great in jeans.

Tattoos got some new cool points in my book.

One of the nice surprises for me too, Shelby. I ended up bought the HD-DVD from Millerman here. Definitely worth to be in my collection.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

I seem to remember him baring all in History of Violence. Looks like we have another Harvey Keitel on our hands...
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

IIRC, Viggo went over there and hung out with "the boys" in whichever location (can't remember) his character was from. The advisors said he nailed the persona. He's an excellent actor that's been flying under the radar for years. LOTR finally gave him the opportunity for some juicy roles. I think Van Gogh is up next judging by the beard he's sporting.

    From IMDb :
To prepare for his role, Viggo Mortensen traveled alone to Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Ural Mountain region of Siberia, spending weeks driving around without a translator. He studied the gangs of the vory v zakone (thieves in law), read books on Russian prison culture and the importance of prison tattoos as criminal r

While I enjoyed it, It just wasn't something I could see my self watching more than once or twice, I even tried watching it again right before I shipped it out to polkatese but just couldn't get into it again. Worth watching? YES. Worth owning? In my opinion I should have rented it first.

Unlike Russman, I rarely enjoy a movie that predominately features flailing dong. . . but, this one was the exception.

Great movie! I did not care for History of Violence but went in with high expectations. This one, my expectations were minimal, but it turned out to be a great flick.

Easy 8.5/10 for me. Thinking of purchasing on HD-DVD.

Flailing dong or not, you have to admit that was a really intense fight scene.

Agreed. But, after the opening scene. . .

    SPOILER. . .

where the dude gets his neck cut and bleeds all over, I knew it was going to be a pretty intense movie. That fight scene left nothing to the imagination. Lot of gore. . . lot of ****.

Viggo was both vicious and extremely likable. Great flick; need to watch it again. The suspense was palpable pretty much the whole movie.
