FX Install Height?
Was hoping all of you might help me out.......
Two part questions:
Recently bought the FX6 surround speakers. Curious of the proper height to install on wall. I've read "ear height when seated" and "ear height when standing" which is better? or better suggestion...........
I know there is a benefit to speaker stands - allows you to move things around but from a "sound perspective" Are speaker stands better than wall mounting the surround speaker or visa versa ?
Thanks!
Rick

Rick, welcome to Club Polk!
a good rule that I go by for surround speakers is roughly 2 1/2 to 3 feet above your sitting ear level. that has worked the best for me... it doesn't have to be exact of course.. but you do want them that high above your head..
Speaker stands are not better than wall mounting. I would only recommend speaker stands when that is the ONLY option of placing surround speakers. If you live in an apartment and can't drill holes in the wall, then use stands.. otherwise, they aren't secure enough and don't give you the right amount of height needed.
good luck. come back and ask more questions if you have more
