about a sony

hey folks, quick question. trying to decide if it is worth trying to sell a sony STR-D1015 receiver i have. i bought it new at circuit city in 1995 for about $600 (!!!). i still have the receipt somewhere for whatever reason. supposedly, it was their top-of-the-line consumer model at the time. 120x3 plus 35-40 for the rear, 4 ohm stable (in 2 ch), 4.0 pro-logic decoder and some IMO pretty useless DSP soundfields. big old transformer and heat sink (again, as japanese receivers go), binding posts, and a passable phono stage. no subwoofer out. i mean, pro-logic is dated and suxx; no argument there. as a stereo receiver though, this thing kicks--- as much as japanese receivers can. all of the DSP stuff is bypassable, which is where it sounds best. has universal "learning" remote, too. everything works 100% and it has been used responsibly for the entirety of its life.

i mean, is it worth $50 or $150? at the low end, i guess i would just keep it or give it to someone who is without. i havent used it in awhile, and certain polkies are forcing me to spend money i barely have.

i just dont need it--- i have 4 other receivers (all older than this one) and am only actively using one of them .

the dirty spots are only fingerprints, and the display is bright, not dim as it appears---- the flash fecked up the lighting and made the prints really show.

yes, my camera is a pos. but what did i expect from samsung. yes, i have had incredibly bad experience with the company, but i digress.

ok.... so when i list this on ebay with a $100 reserve, am i going to have a receiver and ebay fees to contend with? guess there is one way to find out.
the gfa-545 i just bought from hydrostream sort of necessitates it.

no offense taken. it is old, it is used, and it is sony. 1995 digital wasnt particularly awe-inspiring. i was definitely duped by marketing, etc at the time. i would never buy its equivalent today, knowing what i know now. however, some of the higher quality units from days past still seem to find love with folks. i would be willing to bet a small sum that a comparison of this unit to its modern equivalent would reveal the cheapness that seems inherent in modern consumer-quality stuff.

somehow, i think that if i couldnt get more than $50 or so for it, that i might derive more pleasure by taking it out back and shooting it, or putting a 10lb hammer through the top. but since it works fine, i cant exactly do that, can i? than again, i dont really need music in the closet (where this one lives), and if i did, i have more reasonable avenues.

think i will try craigslist first--- easy to afford failure there, lol.
