polk cs2 center question
I have the cs2 for my center channel along with m50s for the front and i noticed that the center speaker is not as crisp as the fronts are when playing movies. Its mostly voices with not alot of crispness. The cs1 center is recommended for my setup but i went to the next step up the cs2. The speakers in the cs2 are even bigger than the fronts monitor 50s. So then i hooked the center up to the front left speaker wire and they sounded great(crisp). So my question is the center channel intended to get crisp like the fronts or are they just for natural sounding voices .Could it also me my receiver(new denon 1708)
my local circuit city has a Onkyo 805 on sale for $629.00 would this help and is this a good receiver?
p.s. sorry for all the question
thanks leroy

Could be a host of reasons, are you useing the same speaker wire for all? Maybe adjust your speaker levels too.Maybe it is not getting the juice the others are.Something in your set up menu? Placement too low? What receiver are you useing?HT SYSTEM-

its all the same size 14 guage which is more than enough for this setup.
I am running a denon 1708 75watts per channel. The center is just as loud as the fronts but its not as crisp. I thought the tweeter may have been blown but when I hooked it up to the front terminal their that crisp tweeter was. Does the receiver room calibration play a big part in setup. I was thinking of the onkyo 805 they have it on sale by me for$620.00

Thats a good step up as far as receivers go,for you.Check your settings in the Denon, speaker levels, distance, and so fourth.HT SYSTEM-

I would say it would be the recievers fault. If it sounds good hooked to one of the front terminals but not good in the center terminal then it has to be the reciever. There isn't much you can do to tweak the settings to make the clarity and crispness improve.Onkyo TX NR 5008 modified by The Upgrade Company

do you think they are under powered with only 75 watts

75 watts is enough to power your speakers, but of course more is always better too.. check the menu to see if it's set to large or small setting for your center channel. set them all to small and see if it changes the sound in the center channel.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

does the crispness of you center equal to the fronts
-
You bet it does. You should see if you can have a buddy come over with a different reciever and hook it up....i'm still betting that the problem is in your denon. Maybe check and see that the treble isn't turned way down on the center for some reason. Other than that....i'd blame the reciever.Onkyo TX NR 5008 modified by The Upgrade Company

i can't adjust just the center channels treble. Its like an all or nothing adjustment for everything.

Can you try wiring one of your fronts to the "center" channel output on your reciever? If it sounds bad then you know it's the reciever.Onkyo TX NR 5008 modified by The Upgrade Company
