He does a great job explaining in very simple terms what needs to be done. You'll even enjoy watching it._________________________________________________

Baggedlancer. I do not see an anti-skate weight either. It is a little weight that is on some fising line that hooks on the back of the tone arm just behind the gimble(sp). Also it looks like you counter weight is not set right. I do not know what the cartridge recomendation is but mine is 2.0 which is 20 on the mark on the counter weight. First detach the anti skate weight then balance the tone arm and the set the little dial on the counter weight with the markings and numbers to zero. Put the arm in the support and while holding the counter weight stationary spin the part with the numbers on it so the zero is at the top. Then rotate the counter weight ( not the part with the numbers on it ) to the recommended value. Mine was 20. Some ohther may chime in also but this is what I see from your pictures.
ScottI like speakers that are bigger than a small refrigerator but smaller than a big refrigerator:D -

2 posts before yours, it's already on
Like I said, I'm not really sure what I'm doing. When I first put the weight on I notice when i was lowering the arm it would drift off the table before it even hit the vinyl. I've since removed it, reset the counter weight, and put it back. Sounds great now. -
I'm curious, is the anti-skate weight really needed? I feel like it keeps **** things up, it's pulled the arm to the outside of the table again after i re-balanced the tonearm then put it back on. The cartridge says 18 and I set it for the 15-20 range. It's almost like the carbon fiber tonearm is too light for it.
-
Well, i can't get the anti-skate weight to work properly, the tonearm won't balance and it keeps going off the edge no matter what I try.
And I thought this was going to be easy buying a table with a cartridge already mounted and such......so much for that idea....might need to go with some easier to use. -
Don't get discouraged, everyone I've talked to that has had to set up a Pro-ject table using the included directions has had the same problem. I think the directions would be easier to understand if they didn't translate them from Chekoslavakian. If the arm's trying to lift off the table, you've got too much force pushing down on the back of the arm. Remove the anti-skid weight, zero the tracking force, push (or turn, whatever works) the counterweight assembly towards the pivot. Make sure the arm still hangs in the air level, you won't need to push it too far. Set the force again and give it a try. I had better luck when I disregarded the directions and thought it out myself.Wristwatch--->Crisco

I can get it to balance perfectly without the weight, then i lift the lever, move the tonearm back to the resting place, lower the lever, put the weight on where it is supposed to go, lift the lever, put the tonearm over the album, then when i lower the lever the needle never touches, it goes into run off mode before it hits the edge of the table and goes to the outside. -
Try to adjust the arm so the cartridge end is slightly lower then level.
Does the anti skid weight pin have different places where you can attach the string? IIRC, the directions on mine contradicted themselves as to where to attach the string on the pin. Try different locations if it does.Wristwatch--->Crisco -

Yes, it does and all the settings send the arm off the table. -
Mark, spend $30 on this (I'm sure you can find it cheaper):

One of the TT's he uses to demonstrate set up is the RM-5
Do you know if the dvd also comes with a cartridge alignment protractor/setup guage, or would I need to buy one of these before getting to that point in the dvd.
BTW. That's one nice tt you have there BL. -
Those "IsoPods" can be found at any good plumbing supply house. I actually installed them under my speakers but not the sub. Sounded better that way to me. I paid .82 cents a piece for them.2 Channel -

What are they called at the plumbing supply house? better yet, what are they used for? never seen them used in a plumbing install in my life.....
pics? -
I aked the guy for the "cork and rubber" pads. The plumber/ACR guy installed them under my hot water tank and the furnace. I burn oil and the pumps and fan motor produce a lot of vibration. There was an obvios difference in vibration and noise after the new furnace was installed. Not to mention burning less oil.2 Channel -
