Any info on the new Alpine Type-S?

The Alping Type-S coaxials, like the SPS-17C2, are on clearance sales and they've come out with new models like the SPS-500 and SPS-600. Has anybody tried these? Are they a lot better? I have one pair of the old ones, and I might want to get another on clearance, but are the new ones worth spending more maybe?
