I am considering purchasing a pair of RTA 11TL speakers and would like to know if anyone own's a pair and what they think of them. Also, I have a pair of Monitor 10 speakers and was wondering how the RTA 11TL compares with the Monitor 10.

    ronaldo,

    Welcome to the forum.

The 10's are nice speakers and still in demand by those who know. I've not hear the RTA 11TL, but as it was one of Polk's first non-SDA type speakers (same tweeter and mid-drivers as some SDA's) and being that the SDA's are great, then I would think it's a nicer speaker. The 11 TL has the SL3000 tweeter which IMHO is sweeter/smoother than the SL2000 in your 10's. Are you looking at the two pairs of RTA 11TL's for sale on eBay right now?

F1nut, thanks for your reply. Yes, I am looking at the RTA 11 at ebay. Actually there are 2 of them on ebay. What would be a reasonable price for RTA 11?

    ronaldo,

Yes, I said two pair ;) . I'm not real sure of the prices for the 11's, but I know a pair of 15TL's just went for $326.00. The guy with the reserve will not reveal his price. It is thought to be $500.00 which seems high. The other guy has a start price of $325.00 and I think if you can get them for that you'd be ok.

    F1nut,

Thanks for the information. I am also looking at SDA 1-C and SRS 3.1 at ebay. Any thoughts on these? Would my Denon DRA-685
receiver (100 w/channel) be adequate for these big speakers?

The SDA 1C's and 3.1 are very good speakers, some member
here like the 1C's better than the SRS's. You cannot go wrong between these two.

Nice pictures... and looks like you got them at good price. Are there other places to buy vintage speakers besides ebay?

Thanks a lot... Did you have a comment on Denon DRA-685 for driving SDA and SRS speakers?

    ronaldo,

Adequate, yes. Ideal, no. Worry about the power later and get either the 1C or the 3.1. They are both better than the RTA's because SDA's are the only speakers that will put a **** eatin' :D on your face everytime. The SDA effect gives you the closest reproduction to a live performance that I've heard.

    Cuz Har, quit bragging ;)

Is it true to get the SDA effect you must know where to put the speakers and where to sit?

Well, that's true for any set of speakers. With the SDA's you do not toe in. The sweet spot is rather wide.

If you go with the RTAs or even with your current 10s, you can get similar results with a Carver Sonic Holography Generator. It's not quite the same, but my 10Bs seem to like it. I picked up my SHG for about $60 on E-bay.

    Curious:
    RTA-11TL's vs. SDA-1(b or c)

I love my RTA-11TL's and they don't take much power to enjoy even high volume, but I've not experienced any SDAs...

? Harmon Kardon AVR 55 (dead; replacing with Onkyo TX NR-616)
? Polk RTA 11TL's (FR and FL)
? Polk TSi200's (RR and RL)
    ? Polk CS10 (Center)
    ? Polk PSW-350
    ? Grado SR-60i Headphones
    ? Fii0 E5 headphone amp
    ? iPod touch (8 gig)
    ? iPod Classic (80 gig)
? Mac Mini (as media server)
    ? xbox 360
