Nice write up on the HK stereo receiver in here. I have been looking at them for a while just for a cheap clean solution for a second system, and something for a newbie with limited funds.
Good read.

Thanks, Mark. You give me something to look forward to at the beginning of the month other than rent payment.
That 3470 looks gorgeous. -
Thanks again.

One thing about Sean, he is meticulous about his equipment and getting great shots.Review Site_ (((AudioPursuit)))

Looks good. Is nOrh still in business? I've sent Mr Barnes a couple emails with no reply.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service.

Gentlemen, I apologize if the review of the HK receiver reads a bit rough. I sorta rushed it out of the woodwork. As an aside; it really is an attractive piece. A much "higher res" shot can be seen here;

What's the deal with that magazine? It looks a little strange to me, like it might be a collection of reviews from readers instead of a regular staff of writers. And why does a magazine called "Affordable Audio" have cable reviews?
-
Is HK still making the HK3470 stereo receiver? The faceplate on this receiver looks like the last generation HK receivers. HK's current generation is using mostly silver faceplates.
Oh, just read the whole review. The reviewer does mention that this particular HK receiver has been discontinued. -
They're a important part of the audio chain. Why wouldn't he have cable reviews?"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

They're reviews from audio buffs. That's why we like it. They don't kiss butt.
And it's AFFORDABLE."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -

Riker:
Thanks for posting.
A$$A has several regular staff members (all volunteers). Not everyone writes every month just like Stereophile, TAS, HiFi+, 6Moons, etc., etc. I also audition new writers on a regular basis. Not many stick, only because after one piece they get "worded out".
As for cable reviews, yes the AudioMagic's are expensive that we reviewed in the March issue, and most of their offerings are beyond the budget of most of A$$A's readership. We have also reviewed budget cables by MAC, Zebra, and AudioArt.
The whole idea of A$$A was to bring audio reviews back from the stratosphere priced equipment that the big guns reviewed. In all honesty, I believed we have succeeded, and with other online e-zines/review sites, have brought Stereophile and TAS back to the real world.
Thanks for checking us out.Review Site_ (((AudioPursuit)))
