I'm looking at purchasing an Oppo DV-980H and have a couple of questions I'd like to throw out there.
Theoretically speaking, if some enterprising mind decided to rip the CSS encryption off DVDs and store them on a USB hard drive, would the Oppo be able to play them back through the USB/component out at an up-converted 1080i?
Another question: does the USB port on the Oppo has enough juice to run a real hard drive like a WD Passport, or is it just for flash memory drives?

Just for anyone wondering: Oppo tech support says that the USB port has enough juice to run a 2.5" HDD, and will also support attachment of a powered USB hub.Elvis is the watermelon
