SVS SB12 or VMPS Dedicated

So Im looking for a smaller subwoofer for my 2 ch adventures now...
Probally will purchase in the coming months, after seeing how Uncle Sam raped me on taxes, no real hurry to purchase!
However... Its hard for me to decide.
The VMPS is notably larger, and only comes in Oak Oak and Oak. Did I say it only comes in Oak? lol
SVS sports new drivers which Im unfamiliar with. The old ones were less than impressive to me for music. Especially after hearing the VMPS Largers.
The good news is, SVS offers a 45 day no risk try out policy. They pay return shipping as well. So if I don't like it, I can just send it back.
The up side to the SVS, which I like is it packs a good bit of power, its flat to 22hz in a chamber, its compact, and the amp is built in...
If I get the VMPS, I plan to get a compact amp with a crossover and a volume control on it...
But I know what the VMPS can do, Im more so trying to get feedback on this SB12...
I want something with tone and speed. I know VMPS has this, I know the older ISD and Ultra woofers did not. They perhaps had the speed, but lost the tone and voice of the music...
Any input is welcomed!

I have the SVS SB12+, but I don't have any experience with the VPMS subs to offer a comparison. I know that in a head-to-head test in my listening environment, paired with my Magnepan 1.6QR's, it killed the ML Grotto, and was about 80% to 90% of the performance of a REL Storm III. I don't drive my 2 ch system real hard (I'm in an apt and Magnepan's aren't real good loud music speakers!), but the SVS definetely keeps up well with the planar panels and is much more musical than my SVS 20-39pc+ or my pb10-ISD.
You might also consider the new Polk DSW micro-pro subs. Very surprising performance from those little cubes!DKG999

Polk subs will have to hit alot lower for me to try them out...
Thanks for your opinion on the sub. If they can keep up with planars, they gotta be a lil bit musical!

I was very surprised by the SB12+. I had discussed it with SVS, and they were pretty much spot on with how they thought it would compare to the subs I had access to for the comparison. It's not a wonder sub or giant killer, but offers exceptional SQ and performance at the price point.DKG999

For a sub in music look no further than REL. If you audition one Trey you will know what I mean.Michael
