Nakamichi Stasis PA-7

A friend that purchased my 2.3tl's friday, needed an amp to push em. So today he helped me pick up my new speakers, and the guy I purchased them from had a Nakamichi Stasis PA-7 sitting there pushing the speakers i was auditioning.

So long story short, my friend was able to pick up a MINT (absolutely looks like it just came out of the factory) Nak PA-7 for... $600. So with that all in mind, I wasnt sure about one very important aspect for an amp when using them to power SDA's. Is the PA-7 common ground?

I did a quick search and couldnt find the answer. So if anyone knows for sure that this amp is or isnt common ground or if it is able to be strapped, we would appreciate the info. Cause right now that baby is sitting on the floor infront of 2.3tl's just begging to get turned on.

    Common ground and a very very nice amp. $600 is an excellent price. It a Nelson Pass design from when he was with Threshold. Not quite as nice as the Threshold Stasis amps but a great performer. Nak simply paid for the license to use the Stasis circuit.

    Some parts are hard to come by so if it needs any TLC find someone qualified to work on it. Your local TV repair man won't be able to fix it. The great thing is if it's been well taken care of they tend to be bullet proof and will run forever.

    I'd invest in the service manual and schematics now.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    Sound characteristics should be a sweet tube like top end, lush midrange with great vocal characteristics. The bottom end is a bit soft and lacks the slam of the typical Adcom. Still has very good bass control and dynamics. Just a bit bass anemic next to say the Adcom 555.

    You guys rock, ty.

    The guy we bought it from is an engineer of sorts and had adjusted the amp to factory specs, he has the schematic's etc. It sounds great on my new speakers, but havent had a chance to listen to it on the 2.3's, Im sure its gonna be sweet. Haha not too bad for his first real rig eh.

    Now we need to find him a nice tube pre and cd player, any rec's with that amp and speakers?

    I seem to recall those having bias and DC offset issues, so it's good to have a service manual around. I ran across one for a little higher price, but ended up passing due to age & the issues I'd read about.
