Beginning Shopping for a New Amp

I am considering this B & K 4420 to power my rti 8's. Would this be overkill? EDIT: (I mean by comparison to having everything else powered by the center. I know that more wpc is never bad) Would I be better off with something a little smaller and cheaper and spending the extra on a monoblock for the center?

I am about 60 % HT 40 % music. (i am listening to music more and more with how much I love these speakers)

Any opinions would be appreciated. I was told before to look for B & K or Parasound as they are known for a warmer sound.

    Too much is never enough. You are the master of the volume knob. More power to me is better to a point. I like higher currant amp that are not pressed hard. Also with an amp like that you won't need to upgrade is you choose to upgrade the speakers. Amps don't change formats. A good amp can be in service for 20 years with no issues.

    So you think the center is ok left with the avr while the fronts are tripping out on some 225 wpc juice? My main concern is if I would get more for my money powering all three.

    Finding a 3 channel amp is much harder than a good 2 channel. While movie watching adjust your mains to play nice with the rest. You can usually get a 5 channel for the price of a 3. I personally say spend the coin on a good 2.

    I found that music was improved greatly with more power to the front L/R. But i didn't notice much difference with HT until i added my 5 channel amp. The key is getting some more juice to the center channel.

    Just go for a 5 channel & be done with it.

    And there is NO such thing as overkill when it comes to powering speakers!
