Down-firing sub with concrete flooring?

I'm installing a home theater in our basement. The room is 20' x 13' with 8' ceilings. The flooring will be a floating, oak-veneer floor over concrete. The sub I am considering is the Polk DSW PRO 500. Does a down-firing sub work well on this type of flooring? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Paul

I'd also like to know if I can get by in this type of room with a less expensive sub like the Infinity PS210?

If you're on a slab, get the biggest and baddest sub you can afford."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Hell, no. Your room dimensions are the exact same size as mine and I use a VMPS sub with a 15" driver and I'm about to add a couple more subs. My room is not on a slab, so you'll need even more sub than me if you truly want a great HT effect.HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I can't speak to your specific speaker, but the manufacturer of my down-firing sub (HSU) reccomends putting the sub on carpeting/throw rug.LR Setup:

Onkyo 705 & Denon 3808ci Receiver, Onk 875

From my experiences they work great on concrete floors.
