Most Eminent Sound Scholars,I just started assembling a stereo system with 125 watts plus center and subwoofer hook up.I've got Bose 2.2 for the rear and am shopping ebay for front speakers.I'm leaning towards a pair of Monitor 7's because i've heard these are highly regarded and are a good size for my studio apt,but do they have good imaging? There are a pair of 8s's for sale also. What is your opinion of these speakers and can you give me some other choices to look for that sound better for the size and money? Thanks!

Welcome to Club Polk. The monitor 7's will blow the Bose away in all aspects. I have never heard of monitor 8's. What are you trying to setup? What other equipment is involved?

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

If you can find some. Buy them.

I would try to find some with the peerless tweeters.

I have a pair and the imageing is spooky sometimes. I use them mainly for 2 channel music. But I watch a movie every once in a while and sometimes you would swear there are other speakers in the room.

Oh and welcome to the Club.

    Enjoy!

Are you refering to S8s. OK if cheap but not in the same league as Monitor 7s.

Thanks for the quick replies.I have to use a library computer because my apt. is being redone so everything is in the garage.Responding to ben62670:I have a Pioneer VSX-D704s audio/video reciever with Dolby Pro Logic,3 channel logic and surround sound. My listening space is 11ft x 13ft.Being 50 yrs old I guess i've developed a case of Old Brain, one of the symptoms being that music becomes irritating after about 6 or 7 songs. My listening times I consider an Event in my day where I will listen at lower moderate levels and occasionally blow the pictures off the walls.Led Zep,Drowning Pool,Beatles,Floyd,Pretenders,Zombie, early Triumph,Jean Luc Ponty,etc.. My former best stereo consisted of a Phase Linear 400 amp,Pioneer Sx900 reciever used as the preamp and 901 speakers.I was spoiled...then it got ripped off.So all these years later I am hoping to capture a little of the excitement that system gave me.To say i'm on a budget is an under statement, but I did pick up the VSX and a 25 disc CD changer for $30 bucks at the thrift store!I've got most of the components and only need front speakers, and a center speaker. The Monitor 7's get the thumbs up so far. Will check back for more input. Thanks Alot

Sounds like you are an "old school" like a few of us around here. As stated above the 7's will suit you very well. If you are simply interested in listening to music make sure you have all that surround crap turned of and enjoy the 2-chnl. For a room your size you should be very happy with those speakers and should bring you back to your older days of listening enjoyment. Also, if you happen to live near Cape Cod a have an extra set (not Peerless tweeter but still very nice) with no home assuming my buddy doesn't take them (I don't think he will).
