New Polkster
I'm pretty psyched about my new set-up:
Main: RTia7s
Center: CSia4
AVR: Onkyo 705
I'm still building my HT system, saving up for a decent sub and surrounds (eying the Hsu VTF-2 MK3, need a second job though). I toyed with the idea of exchanging the CSia4 for the a6, but after some research I'm not sure the difference in performance is worth the extra $$.
Though they're tonally matched, is the a6 a better match for the a7s than the a4?
The a7's look really, really nice, but are damn heavy. When I have some time I'll run Audyssey to see how they sound (though I can't find any info on other folks running it with only 3 speakers), but right now it's a humongous step up from my tv speakers
I'd love to hear any thoughts from others about their experience with a7's...

Thanks, lol, I didn't realize 'polkster' is an official designation.
Does anyone have input on this:
"Though they're tonally matched, is the RTIa6 a better match for the RTIa7s than the RTIa4?" -
Welcome.

Welcome. How do those A7's sound with the Onkyo 705 ??? bet they sound gooooooooooooooooood. I'm thinkin about a pair myself.:D:D
-
The RTIa7s sound luscious, but I still haven't had time to run Audyssey on my 3 channel set-up. I know some folks feel onkyo's paired with this line are too bright, but I can't say I find this to be the case (based on listening to music, HT, and gaming the past few weeks).
Now, a subwoofer is next on my list because you don't get the gut-wrenching lows, but the bass is still nice and tight - good enough for this non-audiophile. -
I have an onk 705 as well and just ordered a pair of RTi A7s after much research and debate. I'm glad to hear you like your setup.
I am considering either a CSi5 of the CSi A4 as my center. I found a new CSi5 for $299 which is the only reason I am considering it.
Did you stick with your A4 or replace it with an A6? Also, did you ever decide on a sub? -
I ended up getting the A6, just came in this week. Very nice sound, voices are more clear/have more presence compared to the A4 (and physically, its dimensions are also significantly bigger). I can't say the A4 is 'worse' per se, but it looks like the A6 pairs up very nicely with the A7s.
RE: Sub, I've pretty much settled on getting a HSU VTF-2 MK3 but it may be a while before I can convince the wife to go this route It looks like the best balance between price and performance.
