I'd like to get a pair of the new RTI A3's. Polk states 'recommended amplifier power' is only 20-125 w/channel. psssssh.

I have a 5 channel Parasound amp at 220 per channel.

Any reason for concern? Or go try to knock myself out.

No worries. The amp probably has enough muscle to bust the speakers, but your ears would bleed first. Just use common sense and don't try to get house-filling sound from those speakers and you'll be fine pushing them with that amp.

Poolshark, I wouldn't have any concern. Clean power is a different animal from unclean power pushed to clipping. ;)

    I wouldn't worry about it.

You're more likely to destroy speakers with unclean, clipped power than with clean power.

I was testing an amp that I recently fixed with little Ipod speakers. I think they are 25watts max at 4 ohms. I don't care too much if they blow. It would give me a good excuse to build a new pair. Well anyways the amp is an Adcom GFA-555 which puts out 325wpc at 4ohms. I drove the snot out of those little speakers with it. Now take a little receiver, and drive them real hard you are more likely to blow them with it than a big amp. Don't go too crazy, but enjoy.
