Whats a pair of Chery R50's worth. I have been staring at a pair on my local craigslist for months now. He is asking a $100.00 for the pair.

I bought a pair of those R 50s from fryes for $120 for the pair plus shipping. They are worth it. I have them hooked up to an H/k avr 146 they are well worth the money. obviously not top of the line speakers but they really sound nice and at $100 why not.

    Why not?

Well... I don't need them at all.

But if I could get them for $75.00 or less it might be worth it to me to grab them and set them aside for a bedroom rig or something.

    Thanks for the reply.

I thought you could get them new for a little more than what he is asking. Just wasn't sure.

I have them and like them. However, if I knew better at the time I would not have bought them and saved my money for some RTi8's instead. If you want a second 2CH setup that is used infrequently and you don't want to spend the money, then these would be good.

However, if you are going to use it more frequently, care about music quality, and have a little more money then perhaps you can find some used RTi4's ($150-$200) and a small sub ($150 or less). I think this combination will sound better than R50's. Anyone else agree?

I agree the rti line much better i have rti10s they blew em out of the water. For a backup system It's really a good deal pair it with a dayton audio sub 120. I am impressed considering both cost $260 at the time but like Max says for that price you can find used stuff thats better save tou may get bored with thm rather quick.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I am aware of where they stand in the polk food chain. Like I said I don't need them and was just curious what they were sellling for these days.

I was thinking maybe they could go out in the shop or something. Who knows. I probaly won't even buy them. But if there still there when money is not so tight I might just pick them up.

Well I will chime in even though you were asking about prices for them. My normal HT rig consists of the LSi line, but I wanted something that was on a budget for a second TV/Music system. Overall I am very pleased with the construction and sound of the system. I dont have a sub yet but I changed the crossover on my reciever to add more bass and was more than pleasantly surprised at how well they can handle the extra low end. I also added a CSR center channel (bought from Fry's too) and that really did add some extra punch and clarity to the system.

Overall I would say that after spending 400 dollars on a pair of floor standing speakers, a center channel, and new Onkyo receiver I am more than pleased with the outcome. Not that it will compete with my main LSi setup, but for entry level Polks they exceeded my expectations.

So hell yeah man if you can get the Craigslist guy down to 75 dollars, I would say go for it, even 100 dollars is a good deal, as long as they were not punished to much. Plus I have the cherry's and they look very good.

He says there only a few months old. They look to be in a nice house and in great condition. He also has the orignal boxes and paper work. There pretty much new from what I can tell. Who knows though. Like I said if there still there when money is better Ithink I will go ahead and pick them up. I don'y think you could go wrong if I could get them $75.00

you shouldnt use the crossover if you dont have a sub.

to OP, i dont have R50, but have heard them. i do have a pair of R15 in my shop, and IMO they sound very, very good for the $60 i paid for them (new). they are currently powered modestly by a technics sa-5360 (probably 30-40 watts) and a 1st gen cdp that often wont play cdrs, lol. really, not bad at all for a utility system. besides, one probably shouldnt be doing critical listening in the shop!

You know what you are exactly right. I could explain how I thought that it helped, but right now I feel like a complete duesch bag, and the thought of typing it out is just to painful.:(

I think 75 would be a good used price...Frys usually mixes up between the r30's and r300's every other week or so at 99 for the pair.

Was looking last night and this guy http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ele/617382453.html is REALLY proud of his r300's...took more pics then ads on the SDA big boys...and wants a price close :D They even have the Frys price tag on them so he lives close enough for the weekly 99 dollar price

The 50's are nice. Have a set of them as backs, I still have a set of 30's and 15's to let go...even a psw10 sub if anyone is interested I am flexiable.
