I need some help deciding on a new sub for my 2 channel system. Right now I am using a Polk PSW12, and it just doesn't quite get it. The system consists of an Outlaw RR 2150 as the main amp, a CD/SACD player and Music Hall MMf 5.1 turntable. Speakers are LSi9's. I listem mostly to blues, jazz and classic rock. Budget is around $800. This is a 2 channel, music only rig, so HT performance is not an issue. I really like the tube type subs from SVS, but I am just not sure it is the best choice for my particular needs.

Can you guys help me out here?!?
2 Channel rig:
LSi9"s (modified xover's) & HSU Sub
Harman Kardon HK 990 Amp
Onkyo C-S5VL SACD
Music Hall MMF 5.1
Furman Elite 15

HT rig:
HK AVR-745 & Polk Monitor Series

Have you heard of the Polk DSW lineup for subs? One of those bad boys will blend fine with what you have, just pick your flavor.

For HT I have a SVS 25-31plus cylinder & it literally rocks the downstairs. I tried it for two channel but I couldn't get it to blend in with my mains to my satisfaction.

So I started looking for a different sub for my two channel system (size was an important factor) I just picked up my new two channel sub...a Velodyne SPL1200R (a tad over your budget though). My initial impression is that I'm going to have a lot of fun with this sub. It comes with a built in EQ system with mic that sends out a burst of 12 low frequency sweeps that literally shake the walls & floor joists. Then adjust the volumn, crossover & phase (with remote, I'm a lazy ****) & enjoy. Talk about fast & musical & a seemless blend with my mains. A more in depth review to follow shortly.

Now I truly realize what adding a good sub to a two channel mix is all about. I'm diggin it!! The fun has just begun.
