Sure, I could go for the standard Ashera at $22,000, but the $28,000 Ashera GD is hypoallergenic.

Say good bye to your tower speakers if you get the cat...they will become scratching posts.

Good grief. I was looking at exotic cats at one time. I think the one I was looking at was around 2k.

But poo on that. I got a pure bred Maine Coon for $150. Not exotic, but she has been a great cat.

She also doesn't scratch anything. She pulls on the carpet when she stretches.

I think she pulled on my towers one time and yelled at her and she never did it again.

I love Maine Coons. Big shaggy cats. Sometimes you end up with ones that have extra toes on every foot.

If I ever hit the powerball, I'm buying one.

I love the idea of a cat that's big enough that it'll scare the hell out of any dog it comes across. :D

Here's a cheaper alternative if you're allergic to dander and hair.

    http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/americanhairlessterrier.htm

"This breed of dog is excellent for allergy sufferers. They have absolutely no body hair, no dander. Most people who cannot tolerate a Bichon, Poodle, Yorkie, or Wheaton Terrier can tolerate this breed. An allergy test is recommended before buying any breed where allergies or asthma are a problem."

Of course, you'll need to stock up on sun screen.

My Maine Coon is a mix, but mostly Coon. Big, shaggy, gentle giant. She is always at the front door when I come inside. She scratches carpet when stretching, but has never touched my speakers. She loves people and a good brushing.

I got my cat for $0

Had to feed, buy litter, get her spayed, and declawed in the front (couldn't break her of scratching things).

But I still started with paying $0.

My vet told me her coloring is usually bred for because it's unusual... but she's just a run-of-the mill stray. We have too many cats and dogs out there to begin with... why would you ever buy versus adopting/taking a stray???

Good for you! Now make sure she doesn't escape from the house, feed her decent food like Science Diet or Iams, take her once a year for a check up & she should live to be a nice ripe old age. My Tami made it to 20 yrs old & Oscar made it to 13. Unfortunately cancer took him early.

Unless she gets sick that will probably be the bulk of the money you spent on her at one time.

My professional opinion would be he only made it to 13 because you named him "Oscar".

Made him sound like a CPA ..... or a lawyer.

I didn't name him. The son of a former roomate did. He was born in Boston, Flown out to CA, flown back to NJ a couple of yrs later & driven up to Boston to spend the remainder of his life with me.

He was my laid back California cat. He would jump into anyones lap to say hi! I miss them both greatly.

That looks like a really cool cat. Maybe if I were really really rich I would consider it. It is a step up from a typical domestic house cat but it won't maul you like a tiger or a really big cat. ( I hope)

A couple of weeks ago I came across this article saying that there is a genetically engineered cat, a hybrid between a panther and a domestic cat, that supposedly sells for over $10,000, and they only breed a limited number per year.
