Hi,
I just purchased the following components and will order speaker wire from SignalCable. Having never done this before, are there directions of where to begin first and how to do the wiring? If not, where should I begin and how do you proceed? Should I just follow directions from the onkyo unit?
Thank you.

The Onkyo manual should provide wiring diagrams that are pretty clear. There will be options when it comes to wiring the BR player and TV, but your receiver offers HDMI switching so HDMI is likely going to be the way to go.
Read and dig in. Post if you hit a snag."You can tell by the kindness of a dog how a human should be." Don Van Vliet -
start by setting up the receiver with the speakers.. then check to see if you get sound by playing the FM radio/tuner. if you do.. good.
then hook up the CD or DVD player and once again check to see if you get audio and a picture to your TV. then add another component at a time. and check after each installation.
Also, write down in a safe place the connections to your Onkyo and your TV.
it may look something like this.
DVD player to Onkyo via componet 1, out to TV component and optical 1
CD player to Onkyo via RCA - audio 2
Blu ray via HDMI into HDMI 2 in back of Onkyo.
it helps to know the connections so when you set everything up in the Onkyo menu, you have it right in front of you.. instead of trying to remember if the satellite dish is component 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. and was it optial 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
good luck. come back if you can't figure it out.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Hi,
Your suggestions are very much appreciated. As soon as the stuff arrives, I'll let you know how I'm doing.
Again, thank you for your time.

Hi all,
I have got the following set up
Panasonic DMP BD 30 Blu ray
Sony 40 XBR4
Onkyo TX SR 805
Polk Audio RM 6880 Speaker system.
I am trying to hook up my subwoofer .The thing is I am finding two different set ups
The one recommended by polk is :
Connecting the L and R fronts from the receiver to the speaker level inputs into the powered sub and from the Speaker Level outputs from the powered Sub to the L and R speaker fronts.
The once recommended by Onkyo
Connect the Subwoofer preout from the receiver to the L and R RCA in to the powered sub( I guess by using the Y splitter Sub woofer cable).Which method is better?
Please clarify as I am a newbie
Thanks in Advance
Jingo
