    Just an update -

The tubes can be purchased for approximately $550 each from Sony. The projector needs three tubes.

Pretty much makes this piece an organ donor at best. :(

    Hey,

You were the one that told me "time to cut the losses" in my other thread, so I really appreciated your advice! Otherwise I wouldn't have seen the light!

    So thanks :)

    I'm cutting my losses :)

Just for the fun of it, I asked my friend how much he wants for his CRT (he went with 1080UB). I'm sure he just wants to get rid of it so it won't be bad. How much was the shipping when you bought this one? That's the real issue when moving these monsters.

Oh, and this one is in good shape. Maybe not mint tubes but it still throws a very beautiful picture when carefully stationed and focused. The only reason he took it out was when he saw my 1080UB. For 4:3 use it's still hard to beat, and blacks are true blacks.

Haha, the seller brought it over in my case but I'm sure shipping for one of these monsters would be $300+.

Sorry for your loss, man. I take it you've tried 'parting it out' somewhere?

If it were only located closer to NYC, I'd be all over this!!

Looks very similar to a Sony G90. I would love to have it as Im sure I can get the parts out here in Japan very cheap. If youre wanting to keep it, fix it, shoot me a pm of the parts you need and I can see what they cost here in Japan.

The only thing is that I think there's more than one thing wrong with the projector, so it would be better suited as a parts machine.

You should take up sherardp on his offer, and see what kind of prices he can snag those pieces at! Maybe you can end up fixing this projector.

    IMO, of course.

The model is a Sony VPH-D50Q.

If you buy from a *reputable* used PJ seller, I'd say approximately $1500. At least that's the going rate for these projectors...

I'm going to part this one out...
