I've known and have been working with Grant VanderMye, www.myesound.com, for a few years. He makes some incredible stands for Magnepan, which was how we originally met. The first pair of 3.5R "Stealth" stands were based on my speakers and the pics on the website are of my beloved, and missed Magnepans. I sold the speakers but kept the stands because they WILL be used again.

I asked him awhile ago if he would build me a set of stands based on the original Polk Audio "Polkstand". After much discussion, CAD files, mockups and alot of time being busy with other things, we came up with the first production piece....and it's pretty F'n nice.

The stands are made of steel and powdercoated, textured black. It reminds me of the stock SVS finish, if that's helps with visualization. The factory tilt for "time alignment" is reproduced and the stands can be shot loaded. They come with solid billet, brass spikes that thread directly into the base.

The original Polkstand was for the Polk Audio Monitor 5, 7 and 10. It came in a few variations but with the same design principle. The top plate on this is a bit larger and intended for a Monitor 10. We wanted a little more stability since its a larger speaker.

Anyways, thought you might dig them and while it might not be for everybody, the leg work is done and he can make these at any time. Let me know what you think.

Cool! Makes me want to go buy another pair of Monitor 10's just so I can have Grant's stands under them :o

I have the Mye stands for my Magnepans, quality work, by a person who cares about his customers and quality. What more could you ask for?

How much? The original stands have flat rubber 'discs' on all four corners to keep the speaker on the stand, and not sliding off the rear.

like the brass points and finish, but those welded seams look like ****, maybe the lighting and black finish makes it look worse than it is.

Hoosier21 - The powder coating texture makes them look rougher than real life but the rear panel was a last minute request. $330 was the total cost for this copy. As stated previously, it was mainly a pet project and we're gonna get a set for the Monitor 10's in the Polk museum, up at HQ.

Russman - That's a good idea. If you know of an example, let me know. That would be good to throw in as well.

Nikolas - He can change the top plate for the Monitor 7's. I think it's too wide for a Monitor 7 right now.

    Acous-Tech makes some Sorbothane pads.

BSA Isonode is what I've used on some gear in the past.

Sorbothane makes small sheets that would serve the same purpose.

There's enough out there to figure it out and it's a good point.

Nice idea. I have to agree with Russ though, the welds don't look up to par with his other work.

He must have been rushed, even with those overly large welds, a person can grind them down nice and pretty prior to painting....

I just bought a pair of Model 10B's in absolute new condition(SL1000's) from 1984. He sold a a pair of stands with them that were not the Polk stands, however, he had an engineer in Germany match the dimensions of the stand regarding height/angle and then build him stands and they work beautifully. They have a back built on them that goes halfway up the back of the speakers and are very stable. I'll try to get a picture on this site as I'm at work.

I wish my wife like the size. A big step up from my 5jr's and the WAF factor has kicked in BIG TIME!

I spoke with Grant about some of the comments and questions sent to me.

The welds should have been cleaned up prior to getting powder coated but he was in a time crunch with his regular Magnepan work. He apologizes and confirmed that they will be ground down properly from here on out. As I stated before, this was a first run....one-off stand essentially.

The top plate can be made smaller to accomodate the Monitor 5 and Monitor 7.

The SDA CRS stand is being discussed & mocked up now. I'll pictures posted when they are completed.

If you have any other questions, just post them here.

Thanks for the update. I figured that was the case as everything else I've seen from Grant has been top notch.
