Thought on HK 347 and amp setup

So as a bunch of you are aware, I recently purchase an Adcom GFA 555 amp to power my RTi10's off my HK 347. Im curious to wonder if I connect my speaker cables from the amp to the lower binding posts on my speakers AND I connect speakers cables (FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT) from my receiver to my upper binding posts would I be running roughly 250+ watts to each speaker tower?- I mean I would be getting wattage from my receiver (70x2) and my amp (200x2 @ 8ohms)

Note that I have my jumpers on the speakers still connected. The amp is receiving inputs from the FRONT LEFT AND RIGHT Pre-Out connections...

Just wanted to know since I paid for all this wattage, might as well use it. Plus I beleive the speakers are rated to 300 watts max.

    +10 on this! You ARE using the amp to fully drive your 10's. Those 70 from the receiver is nothing compared to what you are now getting with your Adcom.

    Guys, I am definitely running the speakers off the amp. I am JUST WONDERING what would happen if i also ran wires from the receiver to the speaker- wouldnt that benefit the speakers more. It should be an additional 70 watts that the speaker is receiving, and the speaker has a max of 300.

    My current setup is a 2.1 and the receiver does NO video processing whatso ever. So I basically have a receiver that is doing nothing except audio signal processing.

    Well,yeah,thats what it is suppose to do.Thats why we call them seperates.Most the time when useing an amp off a receiver,the channels you have the amp hooked up to,disengage the amp in the receiver for those channels.Unless you use a back surround channel to bi-amp the fronts,but to me thats a waste.Why don't you just get a seperate processor ? Other posters are correct in steering you to use the amp alone for the speakers.
