Psw1000 questions

So I was certainly not planning on something so big for a 12x10 foot room but as a college graduation present I found my old sub gone and this monster sitting in it's place. Could anyone with this sub shoot some pointers this way as to how you should set it up as far as crossover and phase is concerned. I only have r50's as my mains so it seems those will need to be upgraded soon-ish. But apart from that any guidance would be appreciated.

If the sub is part of the front sound stage, it is usually best to set the phase to 0. The crossover on the sub should be set all the way up to 140 and the mains set to small which will make the AVR send bass signals below 80 or 90hz to the sub. Setting the sub at 140 avoids a double filter and usually works best. Polk customer service will be happy to give you suggestions as well. Enjoy your new sub......it's a really good one.

How is the PSW1000? How does it compare to an SVS ultra?

I just received my PSW1000 to replace a PSW300 and have the same questions. My PSW1000 seems to sound the best with the crossover set to 60Hz (the bass sounds cleaner to me. Each of my mains has a 300watt sub as part of the design (RT3000's) so I'm in a bit of a different scenario. I downloaded some installation guides off of the Polk website here: http://www.polkaudio.com/education/advice.php under the Home Audio section. That may help you some.

The PSW1000 for me is a stepping stone to the SVS Ultra. I haven't heard it yet but it is tunable to hit much deeper than the PSW1000, has a larger driver and more powerful amp.
