Amperex 12AU7 - matched quad

These are Amperex labeled, made in the USA 12AU7A/ECC82's's. They have red printing and a red globe logo. I bought them NOS/NIB from Dougs' Tubes a couple years ago but they've been in and out of my system so they've only got maybe 300-400 hrs on them, if that. Doug sells them for $18 per tube with matched triodes. I think I paid a couple dollars less for them ...around $70 shipped for the quad. These are labeled 80/80, 80/80, 80/80, 80/75.

These have a very nice bottom end in my system and I would call them a shade on the warm side. Good vocals and mids. Not quite as sparkly or detailed on top as some. I have been very happy with them but with my new Von Schweikert VR-1's I can get away with a brighter, more detailed tube like the RCA Cleartops, although I am giving up some bass which sucks.
Anyway, there is very little information on these out there. I don't know if they were actually made by Amperex at their US factory, or by someone like Richardson (which I've seen a reference to) or RCA and then labeled for Amperex. Regardless they are nice tubes with low mileage and if you're into tube rolling you might want to give them a shot. I'll sell them for half of what I paid, so $35 shipped.

Yep those were too cheap to pass up but I didn't have a use for them.

I was like the 7th person to view the thread but I didn't want to be a tube hog
