DSW 600 hit 20hz?

So I know forums hate post count "1" questions but I'm curious and you guys are the experts!

Will the DSW Pro 600 hit 20hz with authority? I can buy the Polk for a good price and was previously going to buy the Hsu VTF2.3. Has anyone seen any test graphs for the 600 yet? I'm just trying to get an idea what kind of low output it has.

Thanks for any info!

No, it's not tuned that low.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Does the Polk offer anything the Hsu doesn't? What are the Polk's strengths?

You can hear it before you purchase it...

You can occasionaly "buy the Polk for a good price" due to its retail presence and the benefits (and flaws) inherent in that style of distribution.
    Mains.............Polk LSi15 (Cherry)
    Center............Polk LSiC (Crossover upgraded)
Surrounds.......Polk LSi7 (Gloss Black - wood sides removed and crossovers upgraded)
    Subwoofers.....SVS 25-31 CS+ and PC+ (both 20hz tune)
    Pre\Pro...........NAD T163 (Modded with LM4562 opamps)
    Amplifier.........Cinepro 3k6 (6-channel, 500wpc@4ohms)

Short answer, no. For more details, we just ran a comparison with dual DSW600's and SVS PCU, and here's some of my observations: http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showpost.php?p=823755&postcount=52

Fair enough. I was sort of hoping they came out with something really cool as I have always been a Polk fan. For $499 I don't think that Hsu can be beat although I have been looking at the SVS offerings at the $599 level. Thanks for the info!

16-46PCi hits low and loud, and has pretty good total output as well. Even the 25-31 goes pretty low, and you could ask the SVS guys to tune it down to 22Hz.

HSU isn't the last word in 20hz capable subwoofers, far from it. Unfortunately, Polk isn't one of them at this time.

I'd take SVS over HSU anyday.

Well they make a 20-39 so that's pretty much the best of both worlds :D

It depends on what you want. I personally would go with the 16-46. :)

If you had 600's rolling off at 35 - 40 hz, that's just nuts. It's 3db down in the chamber at 25Hz, and will easily load down to the low, low 20's in the average listening room.

I'll tell you that our test wasn't very scientific, not really time for that, so it's just an observation based on the quick calibration we did with a subwoofer sweep tone. I have a large room with the back opened to staircase and two bedrooms. We had the SPL meter at listening position of course, not at 1m. At 80Hz they (600's) were at ~75dBm, pretty much a good flattish line down to 40-45dBm and then a quick drop, at 30Hz it was down more than 10dB and at 20Hz there was nothing, no audible sound at all.

We didn't try a single, but I doubt the duals stacked would have that much cancellation at low end although it certainly is possible. If the phase would have been totally out of sync, we wouldn't have had such a good results (both calibration and movies) at higher fr's.

There's also this "window" that is open to downstairs, and on the opposite site is staircase so it's a very large room for a subwoofer to work in:

    Sounds like a placement issue.

Very possible. We weren't interested in making a subwoofer review, just a quick shootout between the Polk's and an SVS. The 2ch guys downstairs were already complaining about the noise bothering their music listening. :D

The SVS was tuned down to 16Hz and had no problem hitting very hard at low fr's, otherwise it was a pretty even matchup. I'm sure if you have a smaller sealed room you will have much better output down low with the Polk's but if you want hard hitting sub at 20Hz I think I would look for something that's designed for HT and music in mind, I think the Polk is primarily a musical sub that does a very good job with HT. With most movies you won't notice the lack of low notes anyways.

Well, I'm biased, but HSU gets my vote. Of course, it's sitting in the next room. :D
    - Onkyo TX-SR805
    - Polk RTi8's Main L/R's
    - Polk CSi A6 Center
    - Polk FXi3 Surrounds/Rear Surrounds
    - HSU VFT-2 MK3

Subwoofers can be dangerous when you talk bad about them.

Which one is better? PSW1000 or the DSW600?

DSW is the newer series right? Newer than the PSW1000?

    Correct. I would not own a PSW1000.
