Right now I'm using a MM124 sub with an Infinity amp and I'm looking for an upgrade.

I was looking at a SR 12" sub, but I'm not sure DVC or SVC? But I was also thinking about maybe getting 2 SR 10"s? Which one of these setups would be better? And also what would be the cheapest, nicest sounding amp I could get for either setup.

All of my speakers are Polk Audio DB btw, I love this brand.

Thanks for any help you can give.

There is no sound difference between the SVC and DVC. Theyre just available for different wiring configurations. For instance, if you get a Class D mono amp thast will run at 2 ohms mono and youre only using one sub, then youll want the DVC sub. If youre running 2 subs then youll use a pair of SVC subs.

As for amps, the cheapest amp that is still relatively good quality would be Profile. Check em out at Crutchfield.com.

How about this amp for a SR 12", INFINITY REFERENCE SERIES 1211a? or INFINITY 611A amp? Would either one of these amps be good for this sub?
And what DVC or SVC should I get?

So do the Profiles have better quality than Infinity? Infinity is the only brand of amps I have ever used so I don't know much about other brands.

If youer only going to run a single sub, get a DVC and then get an amp that will put out 700+ watts RMS at 2 ohms mono.

Infinity will probably be a little better built than the Profile which is why itll cost more. Profile is just a good entry level brand. You get what you pay for.

If you can wait Crutchfield has buy one get one half price with polk quit often. They just ended one promo but am not sure when the next is coming around. I myself am waiting to get the SR's for this deal as well.

I would say as Mac said the Infinty is a bit better built but the Profile is a very close second so it depends if you want to spen the extra few dollars or save it and get one they will probaly sound jsut as good to your ears.

Crutchfield is really expensive though, I use to buy from them but then I found out how much money I could save from ebay and other places.
You can buy a SR 12" DVC sub from www.sonicelectronix.com for $250. You can but two of those and that'll still be cheaper then that deal Crutchfield has sometimes. Thats the best place to buy from that I've found so far.

Yes you can save money by buying from unauthorized retailers but you also now run the rick of getting remanufactured, rebuilt or out right knock off gear. On top of that you dont get the Polk warranty and when you tack on the shipping charge that is usually 3 times what Crutchfield's would be (especially considering most of their stuff has free shipping) youre not really getting a better deal.

As for the amp, again, if youre going to use a single SR 12 then get the one that makes 700+ watts at 2 ohms. I dont know the specs of that Profile but if its 2000 watts, you dont need it. 700-1000 watts is plenty for a single SR 12.

You know what, who am I kidding I'm never going to be able to afford an SR sub lol. I LOVE my MM124 sub, but I want to upgrade to something that can just do then it, I don't need to jump all the way up to SR subs do I?
What if I went with two of the newer Momo MM2124 sub, because I can't find MM124s anymore, or two of the newest db subs? would that be much better then my single momo?

I have a few stores on ebay that I have bought a ton of car audio gear from for half retail and have been very luckly with none having issues. I do also know that they do not come with manufacture warrantys but you can get a Square Trade warranty that is cheap and from what I have been told is good. both of my PDX Amps, Alpine W205, JL Slash Amps, Alpine Type R Subs SR6500 have all come from ebays stores. The only thing is look for a seller with a high Feedback and a lot of sales.

Do not buy SR subs on ebay or other stores online expect Crutchfield becasue they just had that issue that was fixed with the wire breaking to the Voice Coil and you will end up with a sub from the before the repair batch and will not be able to get it replaced from Polk.

The only issue you will find is Serial numbers have been removed and replaced with a fake serial number but it seems that when it says new and not Refurbished that you will get a Brand New Unit.

I always check Crutchfield pricing compared to Ebay with shipping before buying and most stuff seems to be a good 50% cheaper or more. For instance the SR5250's is $749 Free Ship at Crutchfield but Ebay has them for $390 Shipped non Refurbished. I paid $360 shipped for my PDX4.150 and it works perfect and sounds perfect. I paid the same for my PDX1000.1 and the seller X-Sounds has a 99.8 on I think like 4000 sales with 4.9 stars on Item as described.

I have never had issues with amps or speakers so I would rather save hundreds on ebay and be able to get more equipment.

    Good Luck!!

I guess your right, but I do have enough money for at least the amp right now. I need a new amp for my MM124 anyways, my amp doesn't have enough power for it. So I still haven't made any choices on an amp yet. I'm looking at these brands, Profile, Infinity, or Rockford Fosgate. Any ideas from those brands on a good amp for me? I want the amp to be able to power a SR 12" or 10".

Get an ALPINE PDX1000.1 for under $400 but I am not sure what your budget is. Puts out tested almost 1100 watts or for $200 get the PDX600.1. Check Ebay X-Sounds or Hookedontronics both have great Feedback and I have bought from them and got perfect new items.

Another question, is a single SR 12" LOUDER then the db212-2 set-up? and all around better then any two subs?

no. if u mean loudness by like setting off a car alarm.... u can throw 2 12" alpine type Rs into a big ported box and it will be "louder" than a single sr 12" in a small sealed (recomended) enclosure. the db212 has some serious punch to it... the SR 12 is an all around sound quality sub, dont get me wrong, it will be plenty loud if u put 1000 watts into it

To many people have type Rs already thats why I don't really want one lol, stupid reason I know. I want something not many people have and is impressive, not only in sound quality but in looks as well.
So what is better, a single SR 12" or the db212 set-up?

    300 Wx 2 RMS @ 2 ohms
    200 W x 2 RMS @ 4 ohms

    or
    Profile AP2000 Specs:
    # 960 W x 1 RMS bridged @ 4 ohms
    # 480 W x 2 RMS @ 2 ohms
    # 320 W x 2 RMS @ 4 ohms
    $175
