well half anyway....
2 MW6503's on their way.
2 Monacor tweeter's on their way.
Selling Sony receiver next weekend.
Buying a real amp.
Rebuilding XO's after if they can hold up. Mine are the old schools with the 1A fuse in the back.
And thinking about finding a shop to rebuild the MW6500's I have.
Anyone know if speaker rebuilds are worthwhile?
If not 2 more MW6503's will be ordered.
Vintage HiFi forever!
Also anyone know of a 1A fast blow relay I can use.?? cuz I don't want to have stock up on those little fockers .

How often do you blow the fuse?
If never, bypass it. -
I think when you get good clean power you will not blow the fuses. I used to run 1/2 amp fuses to help protect by tweeters. When I got high current along with good clean power I never blew the fuses and I listen to my music loud at times. Re-building the x-overs will be a great improvement too. When you get ready to order the upgrade components for your x-overs let use know and will help you out. It will be a good idea to pull the existing x-overs to see whats in them currently because you never know for sure until you see for yourself.

how does a person blow a tweeter or a fuse? I mean is it an easy thing to do?
does it usually happen more because of lack of a decent amp, or is it a to much volume issue?
I have blown/fried a crossover before, but that was because a surge in power that to this day I stilll don't know how it happen. But i've never fried a tweeter.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

Get a powerful--and clean--amp, and the clipping doesn't happen. Then you don't pop tweeters.
The fuse may continue to be a problem depending on just how much power you're sending to the tweets. -
Is it possible to throttle down the Tweeters with a setting knob?
I do remember them being way too loud at loud volumes back in the day.....and this was with a good amp.
I do tend to crank loud at times...but plan to be extra nice to my rebuilt set.
But definitely would like to setup things to help me prevent damage.
To answer some questions:
You can pop the tweets if you use a fuse not of the proper rating.
Also I think that when I was a kid my brother and I would have to do this after long extended high volumes which I am now thinking may have been from the amp possibly heating up.
I also think that drivers fatigue as well...and may blow the fuses quicker once they are........I dont think that with proper fuses you can pop the tweets under normal volumes.
But am not sure if the fuses protect from extended high volume play and therefore damage or deterioration from fatigue....leading to mysteriously "popped" speakers without popping fuses. The combination of even a good amp heating up and long high volumes may be able to cook drivers from fatigue before fuses kick in. Someone hopefully will chime in with more knowledge. The SL2000wc wow what a predicament!!!!!:D Order one today.......1-800-429-5423 for direct orders with anyone of the elite ee guys that frequent this forum.
